My self-summary
The continuing result of good and bad decisions.
What I’m doing with my life
Professional gypsy. I travel internationally for work, everywhere. This means I'm gone off and on out of country quite often, hopefully that's a selling point and not a deterrent.

I train and teach Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, exercise probably too much, and constantly suffer minor injuries.

Trying to survive cab drivers in random countries, suffering through ridiculous layovers between connections, attempting to find legroom on planes, racking up frequent flyer miles, giving puppy dog eyes to stewardesses so I can get exit row seating...
I’m really good at
Opening jars.

Braking for squirrels.

Staircase wit.

I'm not sure I can count the times that my semicolon usage has been complimented but at this point it's a significant sample size.
The first things people usually notice about me
My height, and whether I should shave or not.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The Things They Carried, A Song of Ice and Fire, Hagakure, Book of 5 Rings, Blood Meridian, A Guide To Recognizing Your Saints, They Marched Into Sunlight, the Fables series, Revival.

Movies: The Professional, The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life, Yojimbo, Le Circle Rouge, In The Mood For Love, Chushingura, Lost In Translation, City of God, The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Le Samourai, Broken Flowers, In Bruges, Hara-Kiri, Groundhog Day, Calvary

I tend to prefer movies centered thematically on existential struggling apparently...

Music: Crime In Stereo, Ryan Bingham, Chuck Ragan, Ben Nichols, Social Distortion, Lucero, The Loved Ones, Dave Hause, The Gaslight Anthem, William Elliott Whitmore, Against Me!, Have Heart, Frank Turner, The Horrible Crowes, Tom Petty, Cory Branan, The Bouncing Souls, Brian Marquis, Sam Russo, Iron Chic, The Lawrence Arms, Lincoln Durham

Food: Anything at least once, and no Nepalese food ever again.

Shows: Sons of Anarchy, Top Chef, The Walking Dead, Archer, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Justified, Game of Thrones, Deadwood, Californication, Shameless, The Borgias, Parts Unknown, No Reservations
The six things I could never do without
peanut butter, jiu-jitsu, caffeine, exercise, music, naps.

Recent experience living off of only peanut butter and shelf stable milk in West Africa may have knocked peanut butter off of this list...
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Making myself and the people around me better.
On a typical Friday night I am
At training and then usually open to whatever comes my way after.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I used to be really overweight (like, the fat kid at school type of overweight); I like to think it built character. I'm pretty sure I could sell my story as a book and then coach "the biggest loser".

I haven't liked Dylan since he went electric and I don't believe in exceptionalism.
You should message me if
tl/dr

If you wanna catch a cup of coffee, see a movie, swap stories. I'm interested in finding someone I've got good chemistry with to start, not diving into something off the bat.

(If I fail to respond I blame it on lack of internet access wherever I am, apologies on the wait!)
