My self-summary
A funny, friendly guy who is looking to make friends, meet someone special and have a little fun. I enjoy trips to the beach, to the mountains, or to a museum. I also enjoy barbecues, ethnic food, and being with my sons. I enjoy reading, going out to the local pub to hear live music, zipping accross the water on jet skis, and playing frisbee. I am kind, respectful, open minded and sentimental. I am socially liberal but slightly conservative about economics and military issues. I am affectionate, and think that touch is a basic human need. I am interested in everything and want to know why people act the way they do. I worry about global warming. I try to listen to people who a disaggree with me and will try to keep an open mind.
What I’m doing with my life
I have a son who is attending college. I am also analyst/researcher. I do high level government sponsored studies at at research center in Alexandria. Its a challeging job with a significant impact on some of the most critical decisions facing the government. Before that I was taught at a major university in southern California.
I’m really good at
Keeping the conversation going and listening. Telling a joke and lightening mood. Being kind, and considerate and making others comfortable. Governmental stuff. Solving problems, and generating reams of powerpoint. I read widely and interested in many topics from art and history to celebrites and foreign travel. But don't worry if your pet interest wasn't mentioned because i am probably interested in that too.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think people might first my deep voice and my sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorite cartoon: Pinky and the Brain. Favorite music: Blues to classic rock to trace. Some favorites are Stevie Ray Vaughan, Muddy Water, Rihanna, ZZ Top, Lady Gaga, and Armin Van Buuren. I think that live music always sounds better than recorded. I also enjoy some older pop music. (See my private things I am willing to admit to.)

Favorite Movies: There are so many but a few that come to mind Abbott and Costello meet Frakenstein, the Hangover, James Bond, Screwball comedies.

Favorite books: Again there are a lot of these but a few recent standouts are Bryson's "A Short History of early Everything", Susskind "Cosmic Landscape: String Theory", Finklestein: The Bible Unearthed, Ryan and Jetha, "Sex Before Dawn". The last one provideds a revealing look at the (rather shocking) disconnect between human sexual instanct (not what you think) and culture.

Favorite foods: I love spanish tapas, Thai, Lebanese, Mexican, Italian, chinese, and Indian food.
Six things I could never do without
Jon Stewart, the beach, books, dinner with friends, intimate times together, and a Sunday night movie.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about many things: What should I get everyone for Christmas? How much do guitar lessons cost?

Who is sponsoring that study and would they be interested in funding us?

Can natural gas be extracted from my vacation property in the mountains without messing up the creek?

Should I visit Malaysia after my next business trip?

Any ideas on how to deal with a dying hemlock forrest?
On a typical Friday night I am
Having a nice meal with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Most of my guilty pleasures involve music. My teenage son is sooo embarassed that Lady Gaga's hit song "Telephone" is a personal favorite of mine. My other confession is my personal library fills about 20 bookcases.
