My self-summary
A good way to say it might be that I'm part west coast, part east coast I guess -- friendly, relaxed, even-tempered, but also intellect and emotion and drive. Doesn't really make sense but who does?

I'm from the SF bay area but have been in DC a while doing work I believe in. Got my dream job and ultimately quit in favor of self-employed consulting and a saner life.

Random items:
-- Want to leave the world better than I found it. Hard to do but I like trying.
-- Can be funny, mostly to entertain myself.
-- Done triathlons and century rides, blah blah blah. This stuff isn't really interesting but we all mention it for the obvious reasons..
-- Solid liberal but not a ranter.
-- City mouse.
-- Been around the world. I mean all the way around. You gain a day so bring an extra change of clothes.
-- Two terrific boys, one in college and the other one I'm with part time. They're awesome.
-- Write sentences without pronouns.

What I'm not:
-- Your dream dance partner. A lot of women on here LOVE to dance but it's just not my thing.
-- I own a tuxedo (hey, it's DC) but wearing it is NOT a priority.
-- Adventurous eater but not a "foodie." You could teach me!

There you have it: a list of stuff that doesn't really matter in the end. But what can you do? We're all here anyway giving it our best shot.
What I’m doing with my life
Looking to spend my time with good people. There's really nothing better. What we do together, well, that's not so hard. There's always 100 great choices around here.
I’m really good at
-- Reading people
-- Words, ideas, numbers
-- Fixing almost anything
-- Not a bad cook
-- Telling a good story
-- I've climbed some pretty high mountains
-- Listening
The first things people usually notice about me
Tall and trim.
Attentive and I know how to listen.
Lots to say too!
Been called a walking encyclopedia more than once.
Even tempered.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books -- history/non-fiction but loved the two Hilary Mantel books.
Movies -- mostly comedy but also some real oddball films. Blockbusters not really for me. I will skip "Spiderman XVII: Attack Of The Arthritis" if you don't mind.
Music -- all over the map, from post-punk to Wilco to opera. Decent on the guitar, slowly teaching myself piano.
Food -- love basically everything. Sushi, Mexican, Indian, on and on.
The six things I could never do without
I'm not so attached to things. I've lived the high life and I've lived in a jungle hut with no running water. Both are cool.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I think about what constitutes a life well lived, how to find the joy and how to make room for the tough parts too.
My work involves making cities great places to live so I think about that.
On a typical Friday night I am
Varies. This last Friday I was out with some friends. The one before I crashed early after a long week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
For me a relationship is measured by one standard: compelling to the point neither of us want to be without it. Where it goes from there who knows. Another way of saying it is I'm open to pretty much anything!
You should message me if
I don't know. You're cool and smart and think I might be too?
