My self-summary
Originally from Manchester (UK), just finished a filmmaking degree.
I like noise a lot and own lots of things that make or record noise. Am hoping that after uni someone will give me a job as a professional noise maker/gatherer.
Other things I like are walking, cycling, museums, pubs, video games, beautiful medieval buildings, ghastly 60s buildings and cemeteries.
What I’m doing with my life
(Not) preparing for my masters degree.
Composing soundtracks for imaginary horror films. Sometimes I do real ones.
Getting some basic sound recording equipment together so I can continue to work as a sound recordist/boom operator after I graduate, whether I'm paid or not.
Right now trying to find some casual work while I'm in BC. Learning the hobo code.
I’m really good at
Tekken 3
The first things people usually notice about me
People always seem to think they recognise me from somewhere.
Happens less now I live somewhere where I haven't worked in 50% of the local bars
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Terminator, Aliens, Blade Runner, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, The Dark Crystal, Metropolis, The Babadook, Ran, Badlands, Kill List, Sightseers, Dawn of the Dead, Martin, A Short Film about Killing, Eraserhead, House (Japanese film), The Room, 2001, Ghostbusters, Elephant, Wake in Fright, Repulsion, The Wicker Man, lots of documentaries most recently The Act of Killing, The Look of Silence, The Wolfpack.

Nirvana, Swans, The Angelic Process, HTRK, The Cocteau Twins, Kate Bush, Cat Power, early Sonic Youth, Joy Division, The Cure, Portishead, Bauhaus, Danielle Dax, Jefferson Airplane, Nobuo Uematsu, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Birthday Party, Darthrone, lots of film and game soundtracks

The Eric Andre Show, Twin Peaks, Brass Eye/The Day Today, True Detective, The Wire, Alan Partridge, Rick and Morty, Blackadder series 2, Star Trek The Next Generation, Trap Door, The Clangers.

I don't read that much fiction anymore but some that stuck with me are The Hobbit (more so than LOTR), His Dark Materials, Albert Camus, Herman Hess, Yukio Mishima. Read a lot of non-fiction, often true crime stuff as long as the cover is stylish and it's got quotes from proper newspapers on the back, cos I'm definitely not into lurid, sensationalist crap, right.
Six things I could never do without
If I say guitar does that include all my pedals and software and stuff? I don't really play my acoustic that much anymore. I'm not going to serenade you from the end of the bed. I'll put together a soundscape comprised of clips from black box recordings played over a wall of distorted droning notes and feedback and dedicate it to you if you'd like though. Guitar.
Some sort of computer.
Can't think of much else.
Sometimes I fantasise about selling everything I own and going and living in the woods.
Access to cats
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Time travel.
The past.
Not even the particularly distant past.
I found a drinks can with an old style ringpull while out walking the other day and stared at it for ages.
Today I saw some photos of the apartment that Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love lived in in 1992 and there were mini Smarties boxes on the floor and I remember those particular Smarties boxes and the font they used for the logo and I remember 1992 and I started to think about time and infinity and aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh
On a typical Friday night I am
Pouring your drinks
You should message me if
You've read this and would like to show me cool places in Vancouver. I like beautiful countryside and urban decay equally. Also drinking.
