My self-summary
Remember the line from the movie, The Bucket List, “You measure yourself by the people who measure themselves by you” ? This is how I try to live my life: to be inspired by others and to try to do the same in return. I start and end my days feeling incredibly lucky and thankful. I have wonderful friends. The kind that stay with you for life, know everything about you and still like being around. I have a wonderful daughter, extended family, good health, fulfilling work and a great community. Of course, I have challenges and aggravations just like everyone else but I think I do a pretty good job at “looking at the glass as half full”. Life is good and I’m doing my best to remember that every day.
What I’m doing with my life
A typical day includes: walking the dogs as soon as I jump out of bed, getting my daughter off to school, going to the office to run my business, cooking dinner, trying to get to the gym and eventually winding down by reading a good book. Weekends are filled with trips to the farmer’s market, dinner out with friends, and hopefully some travel and adventure. Fun includes an occasional dive in Mexico, spontaneous trips anywhere in the states that I can get to in a day, theater, art, music – the usual stuff. Oh … and eating great food.
I’m really good at
Making decisions – I do it all day, every day.
Remembering my friends and family and making them feel important.
Solving problems.
Maybe cooking? Depends on your standards I guess!
Being a travel partner. I’m pretty low maintenance and have a great sense of adventure.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes I'm told and that I'm short - or so they say. I think 5'2 and 1/2" is just the right size.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'll read anything by John Irving, Melissa Fay Greene, Barbara Kingsolver and Amy Tan - to name a few. Currently, I'm reading "
My Beloved World" by Sonia Sotomayor, The Coca-Cola Anarchist by B. Wardlaw and Drift by Rachel Maddow. I tend to have a couple of books going at any given time but not always so serious. Depends. I tend to "inherit" books form friends so I read what I'm given or what inspires me at the time.
Six things I could never do without
My daughter - first and foremost. After that, everything is pretty irrelevant. Runners up include: my friends and family, the ocean, NPR, good food and romance.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Depends what day of the week and time of day. Monday - Friday mostly work and my family during the day. Nights and weekends I tend to daydream about my next trip, what I'm going to cook for dinner and when I'm going to meet a great man to share my life with. Oh and yes... as Dudley Moore said in Arthur, "Sometimes I just think funny thoughts." I've been told by friends that I should reveal my funny, quirky side and that I like to laugh until I cry.
On a typical Friday night I am
Home or out for an early dinner with a friend. I generally want to relax after a long work week so I can recharge my batteries for the rest of the weekend!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Not ready to answer that question. You already know more than I generally share with people I don't know. :)
You should message me if
If you are looking for a friend or interested in getting to know each otehr better. Please don't send me any messages like, "I can rock your world". I will not respond and will immediately delete the message. I'm interested in a good match not just a "guy who likes girls ages 45-60 who is near me and is single". Hopefully, I've given you enough information to figure that out. If not, ask me a question and I'll do my best to answer.
