My self-summary
What's to say? I'm a man. I'm more complex than the stereotype, but low maintenance enough. I prefer intellectual pursuits and good company. I wear a real watch, shave with a real razor(and brush!), and wear a real hat. I like to dress like my grandfather, when I can.

I work with computers, did my college coursework in sociology, and have an analytical mind. I enjoy puzzles and systems.

I play video games, and design(and test) systems recreationally, enjoy reading, and the study of people.

I'm not an underwear model, unless you're talking about flannel underwear that comes with a trap door in it.
What I’m doing with my life
Doing the IT thing. Have you tried turning it off, and then on again?

I draw and paint, but I'm lousy at both. I do it because I like it, and to hell with the rest. I noticed that OKC says I'm "Less Artistic". I think it means I am "Less Like That Annoying Skinny Guy In The Stupid Beret And Black Clothes". I hate that guy.

I read. It's a habit I've been in since I was a wee sprout.
I’m really good at
Making folks laugh. Taking tests. Public speaking. Cooking. Driving. Identifying wine by taste.

Apparently, I can tell stories well.
The first things people usually notice about me
The facial hair. It can apparently end internet arguments when displayed.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A. Heroes Die, by Matthew Woodring Stover. Hmm.. Milk and Cheese. Our Endangered Values, Jimmy Carter. In Cold Blood, Capote. Armor, John Steakley. Trawler, Redmond O'Hanlon.

B. The Thing, John Carpenter. Big trouble in Little China. Fight Club. Mr. Holland's Opus. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Ghostbusters. Shaun of the Dead. Bad Taste. And many more...

C. Hmm. Crowded House. Beautiful sounds, some of the pieces are just haunting. ABBA. Marty Robbins. Bloodhound gang. Nobuo Uematsu. Aerosmith. BBVD. Enya. The geniuses behind the Katamari Damacy soundtrack. Monster magnet. Soul Coughing. White Zombie. Scatterbrain. Squeeze. The Leevees. Tears for Fears. A Ha. Weird Al. Holst. Bach. Brahms. Tom Lehrer(who I really enjoy performing). I have to add Abendlied by Rheinberger and Wen ich wein vogler wur by Schumann. Astoundingly lovely choral arrangements I could never get tired of performing.

D. I used to be an absolute foodie. Now, my menu has become pretty limited. I love spices and intense flavors, and am pretty egalitarian with the breadth of my cuisine choices.
Six things I could never do without
Brain, spinal cord, heart, lungs, liver... wait, are we talking about stuff? Okay, then.

Food. Good food. I love to cook, and I love to share the labors of well cooked food with pride. Guess that makes me a foodie.

Games. Yep, those fun intellectual exercisers. Video games, RPGs, even a well played few hands of poker.

Books. Without these, I'd be lost. Where can flight of fancy lie next to the squalor and perfidy of my nation but on my bookshelf?

Media: Not the devices themselves, but the social and artistic expression they allow to be conveyed. The ability to get information and emotion catapaulted to you from anywhere in the world is an amazing thing.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Building a death ray. Writing and new ways to tell stories. Why people are broken. New recipes and cooking techniques. Old recipes and cooking techniques. How to live well.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, probably reading or writing.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a pretty serious spinal injury. It limits my lifestyle notably.
You should message me if
You're interested. Or smart, literate, etc. Easy, yeah?
