My self-summary
I'm a single guy looking for a long-term relationship (i.e. marriage). I have a good sense of humor and take things as the come. That doesn't mean I always like it, but I have learned to hope for the best and plan for the worst. I like people, but prefer them in small groups, not large ones. My two favorite topics are religion and politics and I have strong views in both areas. I love to think and discuss things and I am a bit cynical on the surface, but a hopeless romantic at heart.
What I’m doing with my life
I teach network security (computers) at a local technical university and I play golf. I enjoy a lot of activities, but I don't like doing them alone, so I don't.
I’m really good at
Teaching, thinking, golf (okay, not really that good, but I love it and try hard). I'm reasonably good at a lot of things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have no idea, but it's probably not something I'd like them to notice :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read almost anything that has a good story or mystery about it. I've read a lot of Michener and used to read Clancy. I love historical and political stuff too (big surprise there). My favorite movie is probably Tombstone, but I like all types including (I hate to admit this) romantic comedies. I like classical music as well as rock, and country. When it comes to food I like all kinds, but usually prefer meat and potatoes.
Six things I could never do without
Other than things essential for living (not dying), I doubt there are any other essentials. There are many things I would rather not do without, but I can probably survive without them. In everyday life it would probably come down to my computer and my car. Everything else is probably negotiable. In reality, I probably can't answer this until you start taking things away. That's probably when I would begin to realize what I'd really rather not do without.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
I like to look for essential truth. I know that sounds deep, boring and tedious, but it's also important. The things you base your life on need to be true or else you'll be building your life on something that isn't important or true. Any belief will work during good times, but if you're not basing your life on truth then it will all fall apart when things go wrong. On the lighter side, I like to analyze what people say (especially politicians) and figure out who they're talking to and what they really mean.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'd love to go out (if you're interested let me know), but I'm usually recovering from golf and watching some rather boring TV.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
In writing? Not much. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I can't promise that I'll answer them all, but I won't lie to you either.
You should message me if
I'm looking for someone to spend the rest of my life with. I don't expect you to know that from reading this, but I would like to meet people who are generally headed in the same direction. If you like good conversation and a gentleman who will respect you then let me know. I really am a fun guy (the serious stuff not withstanding) and I like to enjoy good company.
