My self-summary
One day I'll come up with an arresting blurb to capture my unique and multifaceted personality; one that illuminates my sense of humor, attempt at empathy and intelligence, and my playfully judgmental streak.

Today is not that day.

They say "There are two mantras in life: 'Yuck' and 'Yum'." I try hard to be about the latter.

I want a relationship with someone smart, fun, funny, and kind - Someone who is interested and interesting - Someone who is paying attention to the world and isn't afraid to share their opinion on it - Who's not afraid to be sincere and knows herself well and especially likes herself - someone who has gone through enough to know the value of a good attitude on purpose.

But nobody's perfect; depending on the day I'd be happy with fun banter and an ability to roll with the punches.
What I’m doing with my life
I moved to LA from metro Detroit to follow my creative calling and seek my fortune (lololol). Writing, directing, and improv are "What I'm Passionate About" and I shoot and edit videos and do handyman jobs and a little woodworking to pay the bills.
I’m really good at
Listening, talking, driving, helping out, ping pong, handshakes, getting people together, building things, spirited debate, thoughtful discussion, volleyball (ok not really), diving boards, getting all of the groceries into the house in one trip, making people laugh, drawing, writing, skiing, enjoying myself, stirring the pot, triumph in the face of adversity.
The first things people usually notice about me
Firm handshake, beard
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I want to hear all about the stuff you like, and then have smiling arguments about it.

Books: I recently discovered Overdrive and it is amazing. Classically I love SciFi and epic fantasy like A Song of Ice and Fire and Harry Potter. I'm always down for some pop sci and human origins stuff and some graphic novels like Maus and Fun Home and The Sandman.

Movies: This should be a whole discussion but let's say my top 3 are Amelie, Drive, and In Bruges. Calvary and Kings of Summer get honorable mentions.

TV Shows: Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Community, Rick and Morty. Lately: Catastrophe, Broadchurch, Broad City

Music: I find Rufus Wainwright's version of "Hallelujah" to be the superior version and when I hear "bum bum bum ba da da bum" I get excited for "Under Pressure" not "Ice Ice Baby". Like with people my musical taste is hard to explain but it's fairly specific and I know it when I see it.
The six things I could never do without
Friends and Family, my ambition, a sense of striving and progression, novelty, a creative outlet, something to read/watch
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The big stuff like Life, Death, and Infinity but also more manageable stuff like future projects, real and imagined arguments, and whether or not my life goals are realistic and attainable or some delusional grandiose pipe dream. Looking for the dishonesties others use to keep a comfortable but inauthentic life intact and trying to eliminate them in myself.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working in the garage, at the movies, loitering on a friend's porch, at a comedy show, playing "Settlers of Catan", at home watching Netflix wishing I had something to do but not wanting to do anything, really.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm trying to learn the lessons that tragedy is teaching me, and live with joy and purpose and compassion and be better in general.

Sometimes when I'm browsing OKC profiles I'll think "Cheer up, weirdos! This is supposed to be fun."
You should message me if
You're smart, creative, adventurous, and have a fun sense of humor that strays into 'goofy' from time to time. If you know the value of honesty. If you've worked to have the right attitude. If you're not afraid. And if you have impeccable taste in men.
