My self-summary
Until recently, living as a scholar-vagabond for the year traveling semi-arbitrarily around the globe. Now, taking a moment to find where best to put pressure on the world to make it budge.
What I’m doing with my life
Staking out my corner of the universe and boldy telling chaos that it can't have it. At least not for now. (to paraphrase Dorothy Gambrell of Cat and Girl)
I’m really good at

Edit: Okay, bi-stable meta humor loops don't seem to register with most people just skimming profiles. Fair enough. Then:

Neuroscientist* by training, submission grappler by hobby (BJJ/wrestling/judo), politics and economics aficionado by concern, and pretty decent at teasing out unique threads from the pastiche of art and humanity we otherwise surround ourselves with by personal estimation.

*no, not "neurosurgeon", though I have done many surgeries, nor "neurologist". Scientist. Imagine a physicist rather than an engineer, but who tries to understand self-organizing intelligence instead of gravity.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
make for better conversations than lists. But if you're the kind of person that sits in the dark just to listen to music, reads books that make you think, and likes to be surrounded by things that challenge (at least, say, 1/2 the time) I'd probably enjoy that conversation.

But, here're three pair+ that are up there:
Vehicles: Experiments in Synthetic Psychology & The Things They Carried & The Last Samurai (not about "samurai") |||
Harold and Maud & Antonia's Line |||
Ryoji Ikeda & Cut Chemist & Elizabeth Cotten |||
The six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Beauty, the mind, what can be known, how it can be known, athletic puzzles, the relationship between epistemology and ethics, the importance of madness ("Sanity is madness put to good use.", ~G. Santayana), what seems to be the rarity of heartrending caring (about life/causes/ideas, not individuals ;), the often not petty logistical details of life, when it is dangerous to create things that may be misused and when it is dangerous to do nothing at all.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is that you're awesome. Yes, you.
...aaaaand, apparently a little vain.
You should message me if
You've a mind like a diamond and a bleeding heart, you're an intensely good person with very sharp teeth, or you're simply interesting enough that you're confident I haven't met you before (truly new people are rare, imo; so many of us variations on semi-common themes -- which is okay).

And you're not overly intimidated by the fact that I'm quite intimate with some amazing people who share my distaste for artificial scarcity. ;)

ps: I sometimes don't do well at responding to mail. If so: know nothing personal is meant, you're still loved. Think of the silence as like... a zen hug. =)
