My self-summary
Perhaps my most notorious quality is that my opinion of myself is not dependent on the opinions of others. I speak my mind, do what I please, and seek my own type of happiness. This means that I am comfortable with any topic, have very few limitations or fears, and am rather eccentric. I have an affinity for light fixtures, tutus, and pocket watches, but can usually be found wearing pajamas, with the lights off, oblivious to time and the world around me, lost in some thought or project.

I love to learn, particularly about folklore, language, art, and instruments. Though I generally function on a more logical level, my interests tend to focus more on humanities than sciences. I value the English language, in all its grammatical wonder, and one day hope to read the entirety of an unabridged dictionary. My sense of humor varies from dry and sarcastic to vulgar and outlandish, yet most would describe me as entertaining despite, or because of, my blunt nature.

Due to my schedule and general disinterest in the bar scene, I have chosen to join OkC. I would like to get to know people who are equally excited by knowledge, have a decent sense of humor, and can snuggle with the best of them. I appreciate those who embrace their quirks, align success with happiness, and manage to have some semblance of stability (mental, physical, and financial) in their lives. Those who have passion, and a desire to explore (even from the safety of their own homes) are refreshing.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now, I am balancing school, work, and health, both mental and physical. I am a CIDESCO Diplomat, meaning I'm a licensed massage therapist and esthetician in over 30 countries, and currently work as a massage therapist full time. I'm also a recent graduate from Notre Dame de Namur withe bachelor's in psychology. I intend to seek my PhD/PsyD in psychology now that I have completed my bachelors. Eventually, I hope to be a sexual health educator, "Talk Sex with Sue"- style. I have a German Shepherd, who is wonderful, usually, and would love to acquire another dog once things settle down with my graduate studies. I have a lot of interests, projects, and goals that tend to keep me busy.

My life is often a conflict of interests, personality traits, and general disorder, but good things can be born from chaos, though those are two different kinds of chaos (I'm a folklore nut).
I’m really good at
Wasting time and making messes. I'm a highly artistic individual with too much on the brain. I often start one thing, then think of another amazing thing, put the original idea on hold while I facilitate the next, and so on.

I'm also fabulous at embarrassing people, having no shame, and speaking louder than I realize.
The first things people usually notice about me
Generally, my appearance, as it changes fairly often. I have a unique sense of style (in a good way) which can be of note. My eyes, legs, piercings, and hair tend to be my most comment-worthy features.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Favorites are a difficult thing to establish, I find, as there's so many amazing things in the world. This list is simply what comes to mind; it is in no way complete.

Books: Jane Eyre, The Gashlycrumb Tinies, The Graveyard Book, Postmortal, coloring books.

Movies: Dot the i, Dirty Dancing, Amelie, The Baxter, Brick, The Fifth Element, The Orphanage, Nosferatu, Wallace and Gromit, Death at a Funeral (the original British version).

Shows: Doctor Who, Poirot, Sherlock, The Mighty Boosh, The IT Crowd, Modern Family, Masterpiece Mystery!, Dexter, American Horror Story, Frasier, Jekyll.

Music: Amanda Palmer/The Dresden Dolls, Jason Webley, Placebo, Tori Amos, Hall and Oates, The New Pornographers, Zoe Keating, Fever Ray, Modest Mouse, Dredg, Alkaline Trio, Klaus Nomi.

Food: New Haven pizza, Smartfood white cheddar popcorn, pineapple, pomegranate, cantaloupe, cookie dough, milk, salt, peanut satay, bacon, french toast.

Artists: Bosch, Edward Gorey, Andy Goldsworthy, Andres Serrano, LaVonne Sallee.
Six things I could never do without
1) My dog(s). Yes, there were two of them, and I'd like to have that be the case again soon.
2) Art supplies. Plural. I'm cheating. I know.
3) The internet and a method by which to access it.
4) An unabridged English dictionary.
5) The basics: food, water, shelter, air.
6) An endless supply of Smartfood White Cheddar Popcorn. Not kidding.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Everything, and nothing. My mind wanders regularly to thoughts like, "Who first put macaroni on pizza?", "Where's my personal jet?", "Why can't I wake up as a boy for just one day?", and "Who really let those dogs out?!". I'm a very visual thinker, and will occasionally laugh at my own thoughts. Things can get ridiculous.
On a typical Friday night I am
Usually at home with the dog(s). I'm more of a homebody, but will happily attend a movie, show, concert, or evening out with the right company.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not secretive. Ask and I shall answer. That said, our first dialogue should not begin with, "what is the state of your pubic hair?". Have some class.

I do feel obligated to share something, so here it goes. A film I made when I was 11 was in a film festival. I'm still so embarrassed that, should I ever view it again, I will plug my ears through the entire 60 seconds of torture, just as I have done every other time. I'm only more embarrassed by the fact that some people "in the industry" speak to me as an equal. Really, I'm not.
You should message me if
You're an interesting individual who shares common interests, and is able to to teach me something. You've read my profile, and contemplated if, based on the information there, we seem compatible.

It seems that my profile did not make it abundantly clear how important the English language is to me. If you are incapable of spelling properly, or making use of spell check, we have nothing to discuss. A basic grasp of grammar is also required for a response.

Ultimately, I'm looking for someone to enhance my life, and in turn, I hope to enhance theirs. I'm not a hopeless romantic, but I do believe in love being an important aspect of leading a fulfilled life, whether it be familial, platonic, or brotherly love. At this point in my life, I am looking for romantic love. Please keep this in mind. If you're looking for hook-ups and casual fun, know that I am not the person for you. Let's not waste each others time with conventional social interactions and just get to the point.
The two of us
