My self-summary
My name is Jesse and I am a 28 year-old male. I graduated from UMBC with an English BA (I had a Humanities Scholarship) and got a Masters of Arts and Teaching at the University of Pittsburgh. Ideally I'd like to be known as a writer or musician. I write poetry, stories, satire, and I sing (I can handle ranges as diverse as Frank Sinatra, Tom Waits, and the Beach Boys) and play piano, harmonica, guitar, and trumpet (I have recorded originals and covers and have had a single released). I love irreverent humor and hope to encourage people to think for themselves. I love debate, but I listen to and respect others. I also love to travel. I have been to South Africa, Israel, and western Europe, and I would one day like to have visited every continent.

I am a noun, a romantic, and an enigma
What I’m doing with my life
I teach English at an alternative school, and I am garnering quite a stable of interesting experiences, but it's nice to be able to make a difference and be a positive force in lives that are largely bereft of such forces. I also served in AmeriCorps. I would love to meet people to talk to, do fun things with, and see where it goes. I have lots of energy and love to try new things. Try me! I'm a new thing (for anyone here, that is :)
I’m really good at
putting thoughts and feelings to words and music. I think "outside the box" and have always been able to formulate new perspectives. I'm also very conversant in philosophy, history, politics, and debate, but I know when to practice diplomacy. If I am curious about something, I will learn and become good at it; interest is the prerequisite. I also have a very sharp and ironic sense of humor, but this venue hardly lends itself to that, so in lieu of it, I offer a joke: Two guys are in a bar and one slurs at the other, "I slept with your mother!" The other calmly replies, "Go home, Dad, you're drunk."
The first things people usually notice about me
I do not usually ask people, "What did you notice first about me?" but here goes: physically, my smile, although my eyes have been cited as being deep and intense. Personality-wise: my sense of humor is likely most prominent, although that probably doesn't shine through as well in a static profile.

1.Pen/notebook 2.laughter included) 4.companionship 5.imagination 6.romance
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the fact that love is like a desert (although it is also nice when it is like a dessert ;) you never know which people are going to be mirages.
On a typical Friday night I am
a werewolf ;P
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
is that I can do wicked karaoke versions of "SuperFreak", "I Put A Spell On You", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "I've Got You Under My Skin", and any Tom Waits song (cuz the chicks really dig his voice, right?...LOL).
You should message me if
you have that rare mix of naughty and nice and beauty and brains (I'm starting to suspect that it is either an endangered species or a mythical creature). Or if you are a good, intelligent, thoughtful conversationalist; I try not to discriminate. My AIM name is Drk Black Prince (named after a historical figure - bonus points if you can tell me who).
