My self-summary
Viking, goth, metalhead, kinkster, ethically non-monogamous, cosplayer, insert more labels here.
What I’m doing with my life
I am currently working in the IT department of a major corporation. My partner and I have a house near Wirth Park and enjoy an open and ethically non-monogamous relationship.

I am also a viking reenactor who is a bit out of practice since leaving my reenactment group in Alaska. I attend the rare SCA event but otherwise yearn for a sparring partner to do live-steel combat with again.

I am also an avid gamer. I likes to Crash me some Castles! And rock out on Rockband (and miss dearly having my own copy >.<). My ex and I ran a guild in World of Warcraft for roughly 6 years, and saw a lot of ups and downs but have made many good friends who've stood with us and held the line. I also regularly play table-top games like D&D and board games. Loves me some Arkham Horror.
I’m really good at
I'm well trained in viking age live steel combat with broad-sword, shield, hand axe, spear, and Dane-axe (think something large and 2 handed and meant for breaking shields...), and through my reenactment experience have learned a good deal of stage-combat techniques. I enjoy armed combat of any type - it's one of my favorite forms of performance art.

I am also an avid role-player and enjoy exploring the quirks of a character and how numbers on a sheet translate into character motivations/history. Yes, I am enthusiastically geeky.

I have participated in the local Kink and Leather scenes since 2010. I approach the things I have learned both before and during my times with both with...enthusiasm.
The first things people usually notice about me
When people look at me, likely the first thing that stands out is I keep my hair long. It reaches past my shoulder blades and I refuse to shorten it (more than a trim) for anyone.

What also will catch people are my blue eyes. I hear from reliable sources that they can change in hue or intensity slightly to match my mood.

I am broad-shouldered and stocky, and like to surprise people physically (especially myself). I'm a fan of keeping in good physical health.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
When I take the time to read I have to say Frank Herbert's Dune series has always captivated me (no, I don't count the abattoir born abominations his son Brian perpetuated after his death). I also enjoy the works of Gene Wolfe, in particular the Book of the New Sun. And The Lord of the Rings will always have a place in my heart. I've also very much enjoyed George R R Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series (after having my friends pester me to read those books for years). And, of course, Elric of Melnibone and the Eternal Champion books. I'm an avid fan of comics though I tend to catch up with series I like when they hit graphic novel form, rather than trying to pursue individual issues. I also juggle a few manga series that still hold my interest. Berserk, Blame! and its iterations, Vagabond, Blade of the Immortal, etc etc etc.

For movies and television I have to go heavily with the scifi, horror and fantasy genres. Examples include but are not limited to: John Carpenter's "The Thing", The Dark Knight, Firefly, David Lynch's Dune, City of Lost Children, Dark City, Outlander, Nightmare on Elmstreet 1 to 4, Predator, Babylon 5, Farscape, The History Channel's Vikings...I also have severe nostalgia for 80s action flicks, and enjoy a good drama from time to time (Farewell to the King with Nick Nolte comes foremost to mind). When it comes to comedy my tastes usually run with brit-coms like Black Adder, Fawlty Towers, Eddie Izzard and any of Rowan Atkins' stand up comedy. I also love me some Bill Hicks. And anime. Lots of anime.

The music I most commonly listen to is a mix of Muse, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, 90s grunge, and electronica (specifically, The Knife, Crystal Method, and Moby). I am also a big metal head, with Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, Tyr, and Coheed and Cambria seeing frequent play time on my headphones. Naturally, I have a fondness for Dragonforce and 80s "power metal" like Manowar, Saxon, and Iron Maiden. Recent experiences have turned me on to "math rock" like Battles and indie groups like Pinback and Phoenix. Goth and industrial music are also a strong part of my musical palate, and I have been a regular (once-a-month-ish) at Ground Zero nightclub for some time. I do not care much for rap or r&b, having found only infrequently things that sound good to me (namely, Doomtree). And most modern country is lost on me - I tend to be a bit old school here with Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins, Willy Nelson, and Hank Williams Sr. And Johnny Cash. Johnny. Motherfucking. Cash. Proof'd:
Six things I could never do without
Good friends.
My memories.
A good knife.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My loved ones and their place in my life (and my place in theirs). I am also one of those types who walks into a room or a situation and notes the exits, the people in it, the nearest intervening objects, and the nearest object at hand that can be used in self-defense.
On a typical Friday night I am
Up to shenanigans.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I find the sound of steel on steel intoxicating, and have a fondness for "the shiniez" (latex, leather, and pvc).
I am active in the local bdsm and kink communities. Yes, I have a Fetlife account - Guthmunder, for any interested in a friend or a profile to perv.
You should message me if
You'd like to chat and share experiences in life, love, and/or polyamory. If you're looking for someone to confide in.

I am also open to new friends, new experiences, and new sex partners, and happy to explore physical intimacy and sex positivity.
