My self-summary
For starters, Alain de Botton wrote "Why You Will Marry the Wrong Person" in the NY Times. It's very insightful. Have you read it?

If you google " autocorrect fails", you'll see a glimpse into my sense of humor :) they crack me up!

I'm enjoying the journey and hope to enjoy it with someone.

What I believe about love: to be loved is to be deeply known by someone. It's about accepting who your partner is, all their peculiarities, in spite of never having chosen who he or she is.
How there are many things people consider necessary in a match, which may not be the things that matter.

When two people talk IN PERSON they discover so much more than what's on the surface.

I'm from Hawai'i. I love the diversity and activity of city life. I read books about faith, hope and love. There's a book The Five Love Languages, and mine are spending time together, and words of affirmation.

Things I love: storytelling, riding my bike, watching movies. In the kitchen, baking bread, brewing beer & kombucha. In music, I play some piano, some guitar, more of drums, bass guitar too. I love singing songs. I'm extroverted though not super talkative; I love giving quiet people the chance to speak and to listen to them.

We are each on a journey to better understand ourselves. Call it trite, but I call it truth. We all benefit from an outsider's perspective on ourselves. If I can help someone become the best person that she can be, and if she can do that to me, then we can set each other free.
What I’m doing with my life
completed graduate school in international economics; managing research with a non-profit. writing nonfiction in my spare time
I’m really good at
organizing social events. listening. reading the room. playing poker. speaking out loud in front of a crowd.
The first things people usually notice about me
I make people feel welcome. I enjoy socializing much. I respect people. And sure I make people laugh :)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
long-time awesome author: Haruki Murakami. In 2016 my two fav books have been The Course of Love by Alain de Botton, and Tattoos on the Heart by Fr. Greg Boyle. I'm now reading Celebration of Discipline by Richard Foster, very insightful.
movies: too many to name. Films with Matt Damon, Denzel, Clooney, Brad Pitt, Liam Neeson. films directed by Chris Nolan.
fav food: Japanese, Korean, Hawaiian, Thai, BREAKFAST!
music: I think 90s music is much of my fav. I love listening as well as playing it. alternative/indie/jazz/folk artists often amaze me, and I love catching an up-and-coming artist live
Six things I could never do without
getting in touch with my inspiration each morning
friends and social gatherings
NPR podcasts
prayer/meditation/daily reflection
kitchen, oven, and a well-stocked fridge
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How each moment is an opportunity for gratitude in small things. I'm always working on this. But it's great when I'm stressing about a project, and it's great to see myself above circumstances, and to give thanks.
How people have such fascinating stories, of where they are from and where they have been. It's especially why I listen to story-telling podcasts much.
And food. Boy do I think about food.
On a typical Friday night I am
either: hanging out with friends, recuperating from the work week, watching a movie at home, often quite low-key.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I'm alone and in a great mood, I sing my head off
