My self-summary
You had me at "hello world"

I'm in Boulder growing a tech company I started in Atlanta. Prior to that, I was a nomad for most of 2012, traveling all over the place and winning programming competitions. I'm known as a professional hacker.

I love traveling, creating things, walking excessive distances, going to symphonies, playing board games, watching improv comedy, learning new stuff, cooking (I make awesome pão de queijo), and exploring.
What I’m doing with my life
Creating useful and fun stuff. Here's a fun one: Insultron, my automated prank call application that calls your friends and tells them randomly generated classy insults in a proper British accent:

As far as useful, my day job is creating a tech company that uses a lot of data about people from the internet combined with machine learning to predict things people will like.

I also help run a startup community in Atlanta that is full of programmers, designers, artists, and business people. It's like free office space meets community center for startup people.

I love going places and doing things, traveling on new adventures. I've been known to fly to random cities on a moment's notice.
I’m really good at
Being modest at inopportune times.
The first things people usually notice about me
"That guy is the sexiest man I've ever seen."
Hmm, at least that what I'd like to think. I've not asked anyone to explicitly disprove it, so that's what I'm going to go with.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books that teach me something.
Movies that make me think or make me laugh.
Music that excites, soothes, or drives me, depending on my mood.
Food that is tasty.
The six things I could never do without
1. Some interesting idea for me to experiment with creating
2. Something exciting to look forward to
3. Occasional down time to just rest and relax
4. Flexibility in my schedule, location, and work
5. Good friends, someone I can talk with
6. Something to challenge me
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What if __?
Is __ possible?
How could I build a system to __?

On a given day, blanks may include
"automatically prank call an entire gathering of hundreds of people simultaneously"
"fully automate self-sustaining farming to reduce world hunger, plus take down Monsanto"
"make a ubiquitous facial recognition algorithm that can draw inferences based on connections"
"use eye tracking on phones as a way of interacting with apps"
"design a city around wireless power technology as a fundamental utility"
"figure out how to implement a nationwide high-speed rail system optimized for micro/personal travel instead of one big mass transit train"

All of these are things I have put effort into, and some of them are things I have successfully created.
On a typical Friday night I am
Doing the same thing we do every night, Pinky. Trying to take over the world!

Perhaps I'm exploring a new city, joining a meetup, or hanging out with Couch Surfers.
Or possibly at the Symphony Orchestra.
Or maybe scaling walls at the climbing gym.
Or perhaps competing in an all-night programming competition.
Or maybe I'm grabbing a beer with friends.
Or possibly sleeping, depending on what part of the night we are talking about here.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I wish I could turn off my brain and relax, especially when I'd rather be sleeping. I have the most messed-up sleep schedule ever. As such I often have trouble keeping commitments for meetings, whether it's with a business investor, a job interview, or a date. There's really no easy way to tell someone "I'm sorry I missed our meeting, but I was sleeping."
You should message me if
You are interesting and interested. You are smart and/or a smart ass. You are adventurous, and you treat life as a big adventure.

You love to travel. You want to help me decide where to travel to next. You want to join me on travels.

You are creative in some way: art, ideas, skills, views, music, comedy, lifestyle, anything. Creativity has so many outlets.

You'd like to go to the symphony. Or a rock concert. An improv show. A hackathon. A climbing gym. A CouchSurfing meetup.

You feel like it.
