My self-summary
I am (in a few quick words) Spontaneous, energetic, sarcastic, animated, mischievous, and passionate.

I'm very friendly, and quite talkative. If someone else was describing me, they would probably say that I've never really met a stranger. I'll talk to basically anyone.

I'm goofy, and love to laugh.

I love to karaoke, and I'm definitely the girl you laugh at for dancing in her car. What fun is life if you spend it always being super serious?

I love to travel, and will jump on the opportunity to see new places any day. I went to Spain in 2009, and that was by far my favorite vacation. In 2010 I flew to California to take a road trip across the country with someone I'd never met before. We hit 9 states in 5 days, saw a lot of really awesome stuff, including Vegas (popped my gambling cherry), The Grand Canyon, Sandia Heights, Roswell, NM, etc... I'm trying to broaden my horizons and take one trip a year. 2014 was San Diego. We'll see where 2015 lands me.

I'm definitely a bit of a nerd. I love playing board games and nerdy card games and I've done a few conventions such as Dragoncon and Days of the Dead. It's been a while, but I'm up for checking out some smaller cons again. The bigger stuff has gotten tiresome as I get older.
What I’m doing with my life
I moved to Asheville in August to start my new adventure. I work as a catering associate on the oncology floor at a local hospital and although nothing is perfect I can honestly say for the first time in my life I truly feel like I leave work with a sense of fulfillment. I make a difference every day and I love what I do.

I love to be outdoors! I love flat water kayaking. There are few places that do a better job of curing whatever ails me than being on the water. I'd rather kayak than just about anything on a pretty day. Always looking for a partner in crime for this.

I try to get in some board games or card games when I can. We've grown a pretty expansive collection over the last few years. It's getting a little out of hand, but it's pretty awesome. Wanna play Cards Against Humanity or Arkham Horror or something in between? I'm your girl.

I don't have any kids, but it's important to know that my roommate has two kids that live with us, and they are a very important part of my life. I love them, and I love being around them and keep them part time when she has to work. If you just plain don't like kids, we probably aren't a good match.
I’m really good at
Dealing with difficult situations.
Working with dogs.
Being a big kid.
Drinking beer. (that's a skill, right?)
The first things people usually notice about me
My enthusiasm.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I need to read more. Just haven't had the time in a long time. The extensive library in my house should keep me busy for a few millennium.

I love movies, good and extremely bad. The list of good movies is extensive, because I have seen many. A good B movie is just good for the soul.

TV-let's not get started. Nerdy just about anything. Doctor Who is by far my favorite. Lots of other stuff is out there that I like, everything from Agents of SHIELD to Grey's Anatomy to Orange is the New Black. My guilty pleasure is the Bachelor / Bachelorette / Bachelor Pad. It's absolute trash and I know it. But for some reason... we're all allowed a vice, right? After the last season I do feel like I may be coming to grips with reality though.

Music-eclectic taste is me. I like a little of everything, sans metal and super country. I love classical, folk, pop, oldies... My iHeart stations include (this is just a few) Great Big Sea, A Great Big World, Peter Hollens, Africa (by Toto), Howard Shore, Band of Horses, Shiny Toy Guys, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, and DaVinci's Notebook.

Food is good. I love Mexican and Sushi and a good burger. I'm an adventurous eater, so if you want to go someplace crazy nobody else will go, I'll probably try it at least once. I love cooking from scratch and I'm pretty good at it.
The six things I could never do without
I used to have an answer, but after years of experience, picking 6 things is ludicrous. Until you go without something, there is no way any of us will understand whether or not we can go without it. I'd prefer not to go without a lot of things... but I've learned that sometimes we are not given the choice. So what, do we just give up if we're without these things?

One thing I really can't go without having at least one dog. Currently, I have two, and I'm pretty smitten with my dogs.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How life never turns out the way we expect but how everything eventually will eventually be okay.

How to appreciate the small things in life.
On a typical Friday night I am
These days? Unwinding from work and getting to bed early. I usually work weekends by choice. It tends to be quieter and I get to spend more quality time with my patients.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Something you should definitely know about me before messaging me: I am, as of September 7th, 2014, a widow. I met my husband on this website. He was the love of my life and my world. I'm not ready to rush into anything. I am open to finding something special and I deserve happiness but be patient with me.
You should message me if
You're looking for someone awesome to get to know, particularly if you enjoy board or card games, flat water kayaking, and dogs. Actually, must love dogs is probably appropriate. I'm pretty fond of mine.

I'd like to meet interesting people who I can connect with. I enjoy a good conversation, so a good opening statement is probably recommended if you want a response.

You want to drink beer or introduce me to a cool local band.

If you like my profile! If you take the time to like it, I'm going to guess you'd like to actually talk, so say hello!
