My self-summary
I've lived in many countries, both for pleasure (studying art in Europe) and for work (research on human rights in Latin America). I'm a professor and have the good fortune of enjoying total intellectual freedom, creating classes on things I care about, and getting to work after 10 am. I greatly appreciate a sharp wit and I love ideas and the arts. I am trying to see all of UNESCO's World Heritage sites. I like to learn, explore a city, hear live music, read, hang out, eat, paint, dance salsa, go to museums, engage in an occasional protest, follow March Madness, and be outdoors. I can't live without NPR and the NY Times. I wake up in a good mood and stay that way all day. I am playful, affectionate, and totally drama-free. I started a nonprofit in Guatemala and am doing my best to make this world a better place.
What I’m doing with my life
Being considerate of others.
The first things people usually notice about me
Green eyes and relentless cheerfulness!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Love anything by Michael Connelly, Ha Jin, Carlos Ruiz Zafon, Machado de Asis, and Louis de Bernieres. Plus I really loved the Hunger Games and Harry Potter. I also read a lot of nonfiction, Stephen J Gould, Mark Kurlansky, Bill Bryson, books on art, and whatever gets a good review in the NYT.

As for music, I listen to everything: classic rock, rock en espanol, arabic and Brazilian pop, 80s, opera, classical, blues, and country. Love it all!
The six things I could never do without
free speech, my passport, books, seeing and making art, learning new things, high heels
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I plead the fifth!
You should message me if
You have some tips for traveling to Madagascar or Angkor Wat. Trying to decide where to go next!
