What I’m doing with my life
Currently working in my first post-masters degree job. Contemplating a move that would put me in closer proximity to a metropolis, if I can find a job to go along with it.
I’m really good at
Travelling. I've been lucky enough to travel around the world on a boat during undergrad and all around Africa after I was in the Peace Corps. International travel being a bit pricey, I sate this desire by going to New York City for long weekends and San Francisco every once in a while. I love staying in hostels or couch surfing as it's infinitely more interesting than hotels.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm easily excitable and deeply appreciative of things I find aesthetically beautiful.

Also, I can talk as fast as Six on Blossom. (Child of the 80s, obvs.)
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I was a undergraduate film student, so can wax poetic on this subject. Current faves: Drive, A Single Man, Fish Tank, Fight Club. Nostalgic faves: The Neverending Story, Flight of the Navigator. Obscure favorites no one's ever heard of: Code 46, Broken Hearts Club, Love Valour Compassion, Madame Sata, Carandiru.

My music tastes are eclectic, although I only like country songs when they're the title sequence for the television show Justified. The Weeknd, Florence + the Machine, M83, Gorillaz, bt, Kanye, Eminem, Bon Iver, Sunny Day Real Estate. Also apparently I like dubstep now?

Books: I work with them all day long, and can read three or four at once. Right now I'm reading David Foster Wallace, Haruki Murakami and China Mieville, with some Crichton posthumous suspense thrown in for levity. Absolute favorites: The Thorn Birds, Diana Gabaldon, Micheal Cunningham, Gordon Merrick, Christopher Hitchens and Douglas Adams. I read Fifty Shades of Grey's 1500 pages in three days, but I'm not willing to admit that to anyone who knows me. :)
Six things I could never do without
Books, Music and Film (I'm counting these as one: culture)
The blanket my mother made when I was born
New York City
Sleeping in on the weekends
Exotically flavored chapstick
The ability to go out running whenever I want
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Whether or not I'll ever have a running route that takes me through either Central Park or under the Golden Gate Bridge.
On a typical Friday night I am
At a theatre or performance of some kind with friends or alone. Otherwise at home with a cup of tea reading or watching telly. Sometimes both at the same time.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
John Cusack blocked me on twitter because I called him out for his spelling. I now judge him for this.
You should message me if
1. You have the piercing blue eyes of an ice dragon. Or brown. Brown is fine.
2. Are secretly Ryan Gosling and want to save me from an oncoming car.
3. Have never dressed up as a member of Insane Clown Posse in your entire life.
4. Or you know, you want to go see a movie or something.
