My self-summary
I'm a pretty typical nerdy engineer. I like learning how things work and building interesting things. I've worked in the construction industry in some facet since I was 19 (worked summers to get through college), and I really value the experience and practical knowledge of using tools and building things.

I also really like working on cars, and well, anything with an engine. I've rebuilt a few car engines, and done a lot of work on motorcycles and boats as well. So yeah, I'm one of those "car guys". I never anticipate owning less than 4 cars/trucks/motorcycles/boats, so you'll have to put up with that. I have a need for speed.

My main hobby is "building stuff". And sometimes fixing stuff. Or building something and then fixing it. Or trying to fix something and rebuilding it.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm basically an Electrical Engineer, but I do more project management than engineering. I've been at my company for about 8 years and they have been good to me so far.

I'm probably moving from Dallas to Kansas City, KS sometime in the next year or 2 to move up to a new position at my company's corporate headquarters in Lenexa, KS.

I do a lot of side projects and hobbies. I own an obscene amount of tools.

I'm currently house shopping for a fixer-upper than I can fix up and rent.

My ultimate goal is to buy 3-4 fixer upper houses, fix them up, rent them, and then use the income to buy or build a nice house on 3-5 acres of land with a big garage/workshop. Hopefully you find this idea appealing as well :-).
I’m really good at
Fixing things, building things, math, science, electronics.

I'm an easy person to get along with. I'm not the life of the party type, but I'm the guy that everyone usually gets along with.

I am good at learning and doing new things. I am not afraid to jump headfirst into an ambitious project - that's the way you learn.

Recently I've gotten into Arduino and other microcontroller projects.
The first things people usually notice about me
I honestly don't really know.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I only read boring non-fiction books about religion, evolution, astrophysics, quantum physics, and other similar subjects.

I'm not really into fiction, and a lot of people find that very strange about me. I'm not heartless, or lacking of imagination or anything, but reading fictional stories is just not very interesting to me. I very much enjoy reading true stories, especially fascinating ones. I'm also a news and history junkie.

I'm not very picky with music. I'll listen to most of it, but don't really care for most country or rap music.

I don't watch a lot of TV, and usually I watch it on my computer. I sometimes watch Mythbusters, The Daily Show, Southpark, and similar type shows, but I don't watch them that often.

I'm the opposite of a picky eater. There are some foods I don't care for, but I'll eat almost anything. My favorite is tex-mex.
The six things I could never do without
Internal combustion engines
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Stuff I can build.
On a typical Friday night I am
I prefer nerdy house parties to bars, but I'm flexible.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes I rock out to terrible pop music.
You should message me if
You don't mind getting your hands dirty from time to time, high maintenance girls need not apply.

If you are into things that go fast that's a big plus. You should be at least somewhat interested in electronics/mechanics/physics/science, because that's the type of stuff I like to talk about often. Otherwise you'll roll your eyes in boredom often while hanging out with me.

I'm an Atheist and politically progressive, so if you're religious or a tea party republican, you probably won't get along with me very well.
