My self-summary
I'm an independent, highly opinionated, overly educated, and deeply compassionate humanitarian who still believes in the possibility of true love. Seeking same.

I can alternately be very spacey and abstract or overly literal and analytical...If I were a superhero I would be "Super Literal Girl" and my outfit would be a mod sixties black and white minidress...I would fight crime by catching criminals in false dichotomies...

I love reading...and especially love reading paper books. It's old-fashioned I guess, but there's something visceral about the tactile experience that can't be replaced with a tablet.

I am frequently very lazy in my personal life but I work hard at my career...Well, that's not entirely true. Sometimes I'm just lazy. You should know this about me in advance.

my favorite punctuation is the ellipsis...

I love walking and taking the Metro...I love the little signs in urban spaces depicting the horrible things that can happen to stick figures in the wrong place at the wrong time...

Some would describe me as a lefty-liberal-commie-feminist...and they'd be mostly correct. (I'm not a communist) ;)

Yeah, that's an emoticon...I'm not above it.
What I’m doing with my life
I ask myself that all the time...
I’m really good at
Writing academ-icky stuff only 5 other people will ever read...

Existential Phenomenology...

making soup...

and deconstructing the cultural politics of embodied difference in an era of neoliberal late capitalism.

I watch a lot of TV and have no shame about it. Orange is the New Black (so good!), Parks and Recreation, Mad Men, Buffy, Freaks and Geeks, True Blood, Weeds, Six Feet Under, Nurse Jackie (well, not the last season, it was awful), Friday Night Lights, GIRLS, Project Runway, Scandal, The Americans, Game of Cards House of Thrones (whatever)...and I'll always have a weakness for Sex and the City despite its flaws.

...but my favorite show ever is not TV: TAL (I heart theory, but I also heart Ira Glass).

Music: too much!
KCRW (Anne Litt, quite simply, rules)
WFUV The Alternate Side
Six things I could never do without
I spend a lot of time thinking about
the post-postmodern condition...
identity politics of representation in cinema & mass media...
the fact that I spend a lot of time thinking about my dissertation but not actually writing it...
and mostly...
what I can do to make the world a better place (I know, I know! But I'm serious).
On a typical Friday night I am
dining with friends...

at the movies...

curled up on the sofa with my dog watching TV...

making little art projects...

writing writing writing...

at some artsy or music or hipster event—or some artsy hipster music event...

reading a book...

gazing up at that big gorgeous moon!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm addicted to lip balm. I have at least 4-5 different kinds in my purse at any given time.
