My self-summary
First of all, for your convenience, I'm quite googlable. Go ahead. Try it: Roderick Kimball

I'm actually a little bit famous because I'm a Flying Karamazov Brother. If this means something to you, maybe that's a plus for both of us.

Six of the following seven facts about me are true:

I sent a Big Mac on a cab ride through the Portuguese

I sang “Godless America” on stage at Carnegie Hall.

I made bottled water come out Rosie O’Donnel’s nose.

I climbed Mount Fuji wearing only a tri-cornered hat.

Reality TV and $100,000 got me half a house in Florida.

I informed Frank Perdue that there are chickens which lay green

I'm my own eleventh cousin, once removed.

All of the following is true: I grew up in Maine. I have great
friends. I can get a little geeky when it comes to science, math
and music. I'm in a band that I love. My work takes me to some fun and interesting places--Hong Kong, Lisbon, Bologna, Amsterdam, Peoria, Shanghai, Stockholm, London, Madrid... I can balance my checkbook. I can get my hands dirty but I clean up pretty good too.

I am fairly empathetic. I love wine. My
favourite holiday is Thanksgiving and I have a great family.

I have a go bag, complete with wooden stakes, holy water, silver
bullets and sardines.

I can play 'Taps' in overtones with an electric toothbrush. If you don't know what the #*%! I'm talking about, don't worry about it. If you do, I like you already.

I am creative, gregarious, and smart.

I wrote a book.

I believe that good, honest, full communication is what makes
everything else work. If you disagree with me, I would love to talk
to you about it. :)

If you like what you see, gimme some stars. If I rated you highly
too, the nice robot will tell us.
What I’m doing with my life
I just left New York City where I had a supercool job at the Museum of Mathematics, helping people understand the math they're looking at. Now I'm in Bellingham working on a degree.
I put smiles on people's faces. It's actually my job. I'm an entertainer, juggler, musician, carpenter, friend.
I just finished a book of puzzles.
I ride my bike a lot.
I'm also writing a novel. It's a funny sci-fi thing.
I’m really good at
making people laugh, punctuality, dropping some science, (physics major) making sense, getting animals to like me, making chili, balancing the books, making chicken soup.
The first things people usually notice about me
1. I'm on time.
2. I'm lime green.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Life of Pi, The Kite Runner, Shogun, Dawkins, Gladwell, Hawking, Clan of the Cave Bear, The Princess Bride, The Man who Loved only Numbers, Douglas Adams, 1984, Animal Farm, Of Mice and Men, The Time Traveller's Wife, The Book of Bunny Suicides, Longitude, (a lot of people have The Alchemist and Catcher in the Rye on their book lists I liked both of these, but I would put them among my favourites. I have a suspicion that some do because these books are "cool". If you actually loved them, great. I'm not much of a bandwagon jumper, I guess.)

Movies: Mary and Max (Holy shit, it's good. Just watch it. If you love it, I like you.) The Prestige, A night in Casablanca, Synechdoche New York, Mary Poppins, Brokeback Mountain, Shawshank Redemption, Donnie Darko, I am Legend, Shakes the Clown, Pan’s Labyrinth, Goodfellas, District 9,

Music: James Brown, Cake, Bach, Paolo Conte, Beastie Boys, Sharon Jones, Black-eyed Peas, Balkan Beat box, Eagles, Gorillaz, Cash, Jimmy Smith, Jacko, Beatles, Groove Armada, Herbie Hancock

Food: French, Ethiopian, French, Japanese, French, Indian &French
Six things I could never do without
Seems most everybody has Friends, Family, Coffee and/or Wine in this list. I agree. Those things are great, and indeed, the going would get pretty tough without them. However, since this is a place to show how gosh darn special we all are:

Food & cooking (this might have gone in the list above, but there's a lot to talk about here and it's important, so...) I LOOOVE me some cheese. Indian is wonderful and I'd like to be able to make it better. I've got a killer Salmon thing I'll make you if I get the chance. Ethiopian is tasty and fun. Not so much Chinese. Sorry. I love French but I don't cook a lot of it.

Parks and walking in them as slowly as I want.

Whatever I'm reading at the time. I try being without a book sometimes. It never works out.

A sense of purpose
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future

I just reread this, "The future" and realized that it reminds me of that goofy speech Linda Hamilton does at the end of The Terminator. Makes me feel dorky. I left it because I've been told that dorkiness is among my most endearing qualities. I also really enjoy thinking about the process of evolution and it's many manifestations.
On a typical Friday night I am
I don't have a lot of "typical" in my life. That's by design. I usually have my nights out "during the week". (what night isn't during the week, anyway?)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I was a kid, I hooked one pole of a 9V battery to my top braces and the other pole to my bottom braces. DON'T DO THIS. I heard popping noises and my vision went totally white until I disconnected. You can let me know if you think there's any permanent damage.
You should message me if
Anything I've said her strikes a chord with you. Or you like my picture. Or you just feel like it, even if you don't know why.

It would also be great if you're really smart and also not one of those people who is always apologizing for no reason.
