I've returned to Austin after a long time away, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the ways this place has changed.
But more generally?
I’ve worked very hard to get where I am, but I think I can do more with my career. I am a tad reserved - it takes me a while to open up to people, and I'm selective with those I let in my life (be it friends or partners).
That being said, I feel like life would be better with the right woman added to it. I'm ambitious, selective, driven, passionate, and I'm looking for a woman who's beautiful, super cool and smart.
Compatibility is important - it's important to me find someone who shares my views. I put a lot of time into answering questions, so I really value the match percentages. Kindness and empathy are a huge plus.
It is VERY of date, but it's good background. The kindle app on my phone has become like book heroin as of late ;p
The Hunger Games books were surprisingly good, but mostly, I read nonfiction. I will say that Salman Rushdie, James Joyce, Anais Nin, and Edward Said are favorite authors of mine. I bought Ulysses by Joyce when I was in college and never got past the first couple of pages - it terrifies me. I'm increasingly learning to appreciate American authors too. I'm trying to get into Bukowski. I just purchased The Story of O.
More than anything, I like to make fun of the Fifty Shades books or anything written by Ayn Rand ;p
Music - I'm on a real 90s kick right now, especially early 90s, ie. Spin Doctors, Goo Goo Dolls, REM, Gin Blossoms. More generally?
Black Keys [REALLY love that blues rock/roots/retro sound], Curtis Mayfield, Felix Da Housecat, Swedish House Mafia, Dire Straits, MGMT, Gogol Bordello, M83, Kraftwerk, Techno, House, Electroclash, Trance, Bally Sagoo, Nitin Sawhney, La Roux, Princess Superstar, Decemberists, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, LMFAO, dhol foundation, afro celt sound system, anything with soul, anything with rhythm.
Movies - I'm a big movie buff, especially independent films with snappy dialogue. Anything by David Lynch, Party Monster, Videodrome, anything with Jet Li or Bruce Lee or Eric Stoltz etc. I think if I watched every movie in the world, I'd like about half of them.
Shows - The Wire (possibly my all time favorite), True Detective, Archer, Battlestar Galactica, Scrubs, No Reservations, the ORIGINAL Law and Order (especially the earlier seasons), possibly Portlandia (I've only seen the first episode, and it was hit or miss) to name a few. True crime type shows (especially Investigation Discovery) are a VERY guilty pleasure. I've also rewatched a lot of Beavis and Butthead recently (even guiltier pleasure I guess).
Food - I'm pretty flexible. I'm not Andrew Zimmern, but I'm adventurous. Generally, I like grilled meats, so any cuisine with that is sure to please. Vietnamese is good, but I'm really into Korean at the moment.
More than any specific cuisine, I like fresh, quality ingredients, cooked well and with lots of flavor. Locally sourced is generally nice, but it's not a matter of principle for me. I actually have a list of local restaurants I need to try ;p
News - I can't believe this one isn't listed. It's important to me to take some interest in the larger world. Moreover, where you get your news says a lot about you. I listen to a lot of NPR. Vice (VBS) is a new favorite of mine.
NOTE: Chances are if there's something you don't see on here, ASK ME. It's probably a favorite I just forgot to list. Even if you think I never heard of it, ASK ME. I'm always looking for new suggestions ;p
Though fundamentally, I think that who you're hanging out with matters more than whatever particular activity your doing.
No, that answer won't do. It's just cheating, hiding behind literalism to avoid saying anything of substance. And moreover, half the profiles I see on OKC say "i cant tell u cuz it wouldn't be private," so maybe it's not such a witty answer ;p.
But honestly? I think I still believe in happily ever after. Or at least I want to.
you think of a better user name for my profile. I'm trying to spoof/parody the whole "Netflix and Chill" ;p
you spotted the strategically placed grammar/syntax errors.
you just want to. The button's right there, for pete's sake.
NOTE: If you've been to a Tea Party, or are much more conservative than I, know this: you might make a good friend, but that's it. I'm sure you're a great person, but we just won't mesh and the chemistry won't be there.
