My self-summary
I moved here from England, and love living in SF. I think I've just about overcome the language barrier, although my accent can apparently still confuse (and inspire parody at the checkout, for some reason).

My interests include music (and lots of it; I'm happy to live near the Independent), film, books, travel, and doing the new and the random. I take my camera everywhere with me, and have a slightly subversive sense of humour, though it's very gentle. I'm part geek, but also pretty extroverted.
What I’m doing with my life
Exploring, learning, and planning travel.

Workwise, I write software; unique, right? It's doing something very cool, but I'll save it for over a drink.
I’m really good at
Taking pictures. Victorian detail, since I'm renovating my new place. I'm also learning the piano, though I should practise more; at least I don't get notes sent home to my parents now.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm tall, enthusiastic, and I laugh a lot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Currently: Gil Scott-Heron and Jared Diamond. I also love J.G. Ballard, Murakami and Vonnegut.

I'm a huge music fan, liking Radiohead, lots of electronic stuff (think Four Tet and Bibio), J Dilla, and have weaknesses for post-punk - 70's stuff like Neu! and Can. Other than that, I like Nils Frahm, The Beatles, and excellent pop music.

Films? Stanley Kubrick's stuff, especially 2001. Anything by Christopher Nolan or Michael Winterbottom (I think The Trip is now one of my favourite films, although I can never take Michael Caine seriously again). Right now, I'm really into Paul Thomas Anderson.

For food; I'm not sure I can name anything in particular, but I'll go a long way for a good brunch at the weekend. I really miss English-style bacon, though.
Six things I could never do without
Books, and/or my Kindle.
My camera.
My phone (yup, this list is getting really cliched).
My bike.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Escaping to the outdoors.
On a typical Friday night I am
Generally taking it easy and saving my energy for the weekend, or catching up with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'll admit it over coffee.
You should message me if
You have a sense of humour, and are passionate about what you do.
