My self-summary
Hail and well met! I'm an eclectic geek looking to make friends in the Cary/Raleigh area. I'd love to find people to game and hang out with, as I don't really get out much these days.

I'm an INFJ personality, according to the Myers-Briggs test...meaning I'm an introvert with an overactive imagination and a penchant for wanting to counsel others.

While I'm listed as 'bisexual' here, I'm actually pansexual (rough translation: I'm attracted to people, not specific genders). Sadly, OKCupid doesn't have an option for that yet.

Just so everyone is clear--I'm in a loving and dedicated relationship, and I'm certainly not looking to start a new one. I'm aware this won't make me very popular on a site like OkCupid, but it'll hopefully weed out people who are just looking for sex. That's not why I'm here.

My boyfriend has a profile here, as well, and is also looking for friends. :D Reidiest's Profile

If you're interested in the fandom side of things and want to see more of what I'm all about, have a look at my Tumblr!
Warning: gratuitous feelings.
What I’m doing with my life
When I'm not at my day job, I'm at the Faire--historic reenactment, modeling, and character acting are what I love to do. At the moment, it's not something I'm paid for very often. I'm hoping to make that a full-time career one of these days, but until I get my break, I work at West Regional Library.

Outside of work, you'll find me volunteering for Historic Interpretations, a Raleigh-based reenactment group which specializes in the 16th-18th century time period. I have several friends in the SCA, as well, but I've never had the time or inclination to join, myself.

In addition, I'm considering going back to school to learn a trade...in this case, Esthetics and make-up artistry. It's something I enjoy doing--particularly helping others feel better about themselves via skincare, and bright, fun make-up looks as well as stage make-up.
I’m really good at
Being a lover of knowledge, I make a point to research just about every interest I have to a rather silly degree. Thus, there are a lot of things I'm at least halfway decent at.

--Singing
--Drawing
--Sewing
--Costume Design
-- Make-up application, both standard and stage
--Remembering pointless trivia, particularly if it involves the works of J.R.R. Tolkien ...that "other" language in the sidebar? That would be Quenya. I can do bits of Sindarin and Dwarvish, too.
--Navigation. I somehow wind up as the designated map-holder/navigator on almost ever trip I take. I'm not sure how this happens.
--Cooking
--Reminding people of just how amazing they are
--Making a fool of myself for the sake of humor
The first things people usually notice about me
It's usually my bright red hair, which is now officially past waist-length, or the kitschy T-shirt I'm wearing. (My personal favorite? "Rock out with your Hawke out!" )

I'm rather outgoing, if somewhat awkward about it--I usually answer smiles and waves, and can start a conversation with almost anyone.

--For the people who have messaged me saying "lolol that's not what i noticed first NICE BOOBIES" like it's clever and original, here's a hint:

It's not.

It's sexual harassment, not to mention piggish, chauvinist bullshit. You might want to think long and hard about why it is you're still single.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
I spend most of my time these days planning. Planning for my career, my wedding, my future with my fiance, how we're going to make ends meet...it does get a bit overwhelming at times, but I'm giving it my best shot.
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm either around a gaming table with a group of friends, or curled up in my boyfriend's room with a pint (of Ben & Jerry's) and Dragon Age or Skyrim going on the Xbox. Let me tell you about the plight of the Mages...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
If I weren't such a wuss about surgery/body modification...I'd want some pointy ears.
You should message me if
-If you don't mind someone pontificating at length about First Age elves, certain blond Apostates, or kingly Grey Wardens.
-If you read (and liked) the Silmarillion!
-If your idea of fun involves garb and 16th-century drinking songs, among other things.
-If you actually read this profile, and want a like-minded friend in the Cary/Raleigh area.
