My self-summary
I'm a weird, contradictory guy. For the most part, I'm apathetic to things that drive other people crazy - thanks in part to a finely honed ability to tune out less pleasant aspects of life - but I'm extremely passionate and intense about things that I care about. I'm loyal and dedicated, but I'm not so good with moderation. I'm not a huge fan of overly dramatic reactions to situations, and I tend to try and see the lighter side of things.

I'm also a geek, which becomes quickly apparent after any length of conversation with me. My family is irish, so if you're not used to being around entire groups of intoxicated people at once, prepare for a treat. My friends and family are the most important parts of my life.

I am easy-going, rational, and snarky.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm doing marketing research and data entry for a company that trains student athletes. My skill set is people/communication oriented, so long term, I'd like to work for an organization that utilizes my talents and does some real good in the world.
I’m really good at
Video games, writing, procrastinating, having a flat affect. I tend to make people think I'm disinterested or unhappy with a situation/conversation, but the truth is that I usually have a pretty good poker face and don't really give away what I'm thinking too often.
The first things people usually notice about me
It depends on the setting. I tend to blend in when I'm out and about during the day - I just have one of those faces. Put me in a social setting, though, and usually people notice that I have a lot of energy and chat with a lot of people. I'm pretty talkative in a group setting, but it can take me a little while to warm up to individuals. People sometimes think I'm argumentative, and it's true that I like to play devil's advocate, but really I just think that most viewpoints should be challenged, even if only because it allows people to explore the whys and hows of what they think.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
(a) I read random pulp fantasy novels, crappy sci-fi books people find in thrift stores, and whatever my friends recommend me. I used to get excited about books and reading, but 18+ years of schooling have drained my love of reading from me and replaced it with a slightly more pragmatic feeling.
(b) I dunno, it's been a while since a movie just resonated with me and made me feel tingly and special. John Waters' movies are always good for a laugh, my friends and I use them as a litmus test to see how people are going to be able to get along with us.
(c) favorite artist is definitely NIN, and I also really like Opeth, Isis, Slayer, Mastodon, Tool, and various others.
(d) pizza, chili, ribs, and burgers.
The six things I could never do without
friends/family, my x-box 360, sarcasm, silver linings, booze, and a well-hidden sense of romanticism.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Self-improvement. I'm highly interested in honing myself to be the best person that I can possibly be. I take criticism seriously for that reason.
On a typical Friday night I am
usually hanging out with my best friends. We have a standing Friday tradition to enjoy the demon liquor and relax from the week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hold myself to ridiculous standards sometimes, and I tend to assume that it was a failure on my part when things don't turn out as well as I had hoped.
You should message me if
you like playing video games and you want a new friend, you're looking for a workout partner, or you simply can't imagine spending the rest of your life without me in it.
