My self-summary
My name's Jaime and I work at the Staten Island Zoo. I'm a huge animal and outdoors lover. I like to write, watch movies, read, and do pretty much anything outdoors. I'm very talkative (read: loud) and social so any questions just ask!
What I’m doing with my life
I'm working for the Staten Island Zoo as a Zookeeper. As far as extracurriculars go, I love going to movies and concerts, plays, and art exhibitions. I can be pretty artsy when the mood hits me. I also love to play sports so if you've got a soccer or football game going count me in. I also run and hike whenever I can and I love getting outdoors for a little R and R.
I’m really good at
Taking care of animals and writing are my two main talents. I'm an excellent editor. I've been playing piano for 19 years and bass guitar for 2. I've also started to teach myself to play regular guitar and it's fun. I'm pretty good with my hands and love anything that puts them to work, from puzzles to legitimate carpentry.
The first things people usually notice about me
People say my eyes are very expressive and then after that it's definitely my loud and boisterous personality. By that I mean it is impossible to not notice me if you're in a 3 block radius and I must say I like it that way.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite authors are R.A. Salvatore, Stephen Erikson, Mark Twain, William Shakespeare, Robert Frost, William Blake, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Walt Whitman, Shel Silverstein, and Kamila Shamsie. I read a lot so pretty much anything is open. As a result of taking a Beat Literature class I'm also now into all things Beat: Jack Kerouac, Neal Cassady, William Burroughs, Kenneth Rexroth, Laurence Ferlinghetti, Alan Ginsburg, et cetera. I'm also a huge comic book nerd. Of course I love the classics: Superman, Batman, Green Lantern, Spider Man, X-Men, etc but I also like Image books like Hack/Slash and Wormwood. Big fan of V for Vendetta as well as Watchmen. If it's interesting I'll read it.

As far as movies go I love psychological thrillers, horror flicks (ghost to slasher,) comedies, drama, and some romantic comedies if they're not too cliched (let's face it that's like 2)

I love all kinds of music so it's hard to pick a favorite but the short list as of right now is: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Jay Z, Plain White T's, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, The Glitch Mob, X-Fusion, ACDC, Pitbull, Brad Paisley (yes I love country...don't judge), Trace Adkins, Hiromi, Eldar Djangarov, The White Tie Affair, The Juliana Theory, The Who, Eric Church, Keith Anderson, Rise Against, Disturbed, Amber Pacific, and Story of the Year.

As for food I'm Italian so home cooked Italian is probably my favorite. I'm also part Spanish (from Spain) so I like that too. But I'm adventurous so I'll try anything.
The six things I could never do without
Family, Friends, Music, books, a pen, paper, water, and food. You need those last two to live. Oh wait, that's more than six...I'm not good at the maths.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The animals I take care of at the zoo. My family and friends well being. Movies and tv shows coming out, the state of the world in general, politics, music, and the human condition.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, doing something random and ridiculous. I'm pretty much down for anything at all times so you'd be hard pressed to find a typical anything about me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't think that I'm willing to admit anything terribly private in a webpage like this. If you ask me I might be willing to share a few private anecdotes. Most likely it'll be some embarrassing story that you'll laugh out loud about.
You should message me if
you want to hang out with a decent human being that is occasionally awkward and funny and if you're bold enough to message first.
