My self-summary
I have a pretty good life. I love my work (I train people how to make presentations and give speeches). I love my home. I enjoy movies and cooking and reading. I spin 3 times a week and play golf as often as I can. A great evening is seeing a movie with a friend and talking about it for hours afterwards.
What I’m doing with my life
After a very enjoyable career in advertising I'm now a presentation trainer and feel like I'm doing what I was born to do. It's a thrill working with people who are timid and awkward and getting them to be confident and professional.
I’m really good at
Entertaining. I love to do it and it shows. I often have people over for fancy meals or even hamburgers and hot dogs. I like having friends close and good wine even closer.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm all smile. When I went to my first high school reunion a few years ago everyone knew me the second I smiled. It beats a name tag.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I read on the T every morning and evening. I'm rereading classics now but also like many of the contemporary novels. Some history. Caro's LBJ held a magnetic hold on me (all 800 pages). I think TV has a bad rap. The shows on cable are better than most movies and, because they have a season to mature, have terrific plot lines. Currently deep into The Killing and House of Cards. I'll start Homeland and Broken Bad later seasons in August.
The six things I could never do without
My kids who are no longer kids.
Golf with my friends.
Cooking and experimenting in the kitchen.
Dental floss.
The New York Times and The New Yorker.
