My self-summary
My goal is to remain vibrant, curious, and active; and share life with a special partner. Staying in good physical condition by exercising regularly, and watching my diet is important to me. Activities I enjoy include romantic dinners, museum tours, symphonies in the park, backpacking treks, indoor handball, jogging, yoga, and Disneyland. I have practiced some level of meditation all my adult life, and am more spiritual than religious, attending my Christian church only sporadically. I have been divorced more than 10 years, and am very comfortable with my life. But now that the younger son is finishing college, I wish to move to the next chapter, which would include some traveling, staying connected to the outdoors, and maybe some volunteering in community, and national activities. It would be much more fulfilling with a loving partner who could support, if not participate in, some of those activities. I believe that I am a romantic, who is open, honest, trustworthy, helpful, kind, traditional, and an informed conversationalist.

I enjoy all genre of music, including classical, rock, blues, new age, and a little western. Artists range from Mozart to Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Lady Gaga, Gordon Lightfoot, Taylor Swift, and Peter Gabriel. My reading interests are varied, including politics, the global financial crisis, science of the universe, spirituality, and evolution of man. I have also studied Buddha's Eightfold Path, and Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching. I have not done much world traveling, but would do more with a partner. In my professional life I operate as a sole proprietor of a consulting/auditing firm. It is much like being quasi-retired. I love the work and the flexible schedule.

I am looking for a lady and partner in life who is kind, curious, healthy, upbeat, and who will communicate openly and intimately during good times and bad. I enjoy quiet time cuddling by the fireplace, and conversation on any topic - from the serious to the light and humorous. Honestly, I do not feel the need to "get" anymore out of life, because I feel I have answered all my life questions. The rest is just to celebrate, and explore with a loving partner.

As a former Captain in the Marine Corps I have experienced combat as a tank platoon commander (was drafted, then served 3 years willingly and honorably, then got out). From that experience I learned the fragile nature of life, and the importance of honor, courage and commitment. Core values which are also important in a relationship.

Although I think the activities and opinions a couple share may make life wonderful and secure, I don't think it necessary that we are absolutely similar. And I believe that our differences and support of each others unique activities can contribute to making the whole stronger than the parts. I guess the bottom line is simply that I am looking for someone to cherish who will cherish me.

What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying it. Each day is a precious gift. A lesson I remind myself of everyday
I’m really good at
Being very true to those close to me, and going with the flow. As a professional I am very good at problem solving, and enjoy the challenges.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am tall, healthy, energetic, and can be subdued or very talkative.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
See above self-summary, but mostly non-fiction books. Any movie except horror films (I have never watched one, because they seem childish and almost humorous). I enjoy the theatre, and symphony. Music is very important. It nourishes the soul. Food is the fuel of life. You really are what you eat. I enjoy all of it, but try to make it as healthy as possible. Once in a great while there is nothing like an In-N-Out burger.
Six things I could never do without
I have never figured this question out. If I was lost on a desert island I would make the best of it and enjoy it. Would I miss my family and friends? - of course I would. But if they are not available for whatever reason, I would go through the stages of grief and then carry on. I guess fighting in a foxhole for a year, just trying to stay alive, really does open your eyes to what life is really all about.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Improving myself, so that I can be the best support possible for all the people in my universe. And I think about how to improve that universe.
On a typical Friday night I am
Is it Friday, all ready? Being self-employed makes this question weird. I could make any night, Friday night. Although, I have to admit that to coordinate with others it is useful to plan for a Friday or Saturday night. The plan could be anything.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't get this question, either. What am I supposed to be admitting to? I am pretty open. Ask me what ever you want. I am proud of who I am, and am willing to discuss anything.
You should message me if
You have any interest in striking up a conversation or have any questions.
