My self-summary
I collect interesting facts, tidbits, stories from offbeat and obscure places. I like to observe strange communities and see how they function. I want to make people happy without seeing them face to face.

I like economics even though I don't believe in the results, and I like statistics even though I'm terrible at it. I love history even if it's useless and I hate networking even if it's useful.

If you've seen the Twilight Zone episode where the world is destroyed in nuclear warfare and the sole surviving man is happy because he gets to read books 24/7. That's me.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm done with my master's degree and I'm trying to find my place in the world.
I want to find a job somewhere where I can seek the truth, and I'm not sure if that means academic, public, or private sector.
I'm enjoying my current job, but I'm still not sure where to settle down or if I'm going back to school. I do love being in school.
Once I settle down in my career I want to find someone else who loves life and learning that I can share my life with :)
I’m really good at
Speed reading, soaking up information, remembering trivia.

Acting like I'm good at video games even though I have terrible reflexes and will therefore always be terrible.

Having correct opinions about everything.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably that I smile a lot, but don't say much. I'm trying to work on that though! I was once much more shy and anti-social than I am today.

My friends also say that I hate fun, which is mostly true.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Tolkien will always be very close to my heart. I started reading him in third grade and I re-read Lord of the Rings almost every year. Also love Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice and Fire, Ender's Game series even if the author is an ass, and Sandman. I read a lot of pop social studies books; favorites are Nassim Taleb, Nate Silver, Thomas Piketty, Ha-Joon Chang, Jared Diamond, Paul Krugman, Karen Armstrong, and Larry Gonick.

While I've been job searching I had a lot of time to read the books I've always wanted to read, so now I can put some new items on my favorites: Anna Karenina, War and Peace, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and Master of the Senate.

I think most movies in theaters are seriously overpriced, but I always like a good fantasy or superhero epic, like the LotR movies. I like watching classic or 'serious' movies more than new stuff, except for fantasy movies that I have a crush on. Favorites: Rashomon, Apocalypse Now, There Will Be Blood, Anna Karenina, 12 Years A Slave.

I love music from the 60s, especially Bob Dylan (I have almost every album), Joni Mitchell, Rolling Stones, and CSNY. More modern stuff I like: Sufjan Stevens, Stars, Broken Social Scene, Postal Service, Arcade Fire, Garbage, Imogen Heap.

Videogames: Dota 2, Civilization 5, Guild Wars 2 occasionally
Boardgames: 7 Wonders, Space Alert, Ticket to Ride, most worker placement games.
Six things I could never do without
Talking with my parents and friends
My eyes, for reading books and internet articles
My computer and games
Political debates
Delicious, delicious salt
Hot showers
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Work, friends, future, life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Friday night is boardgames night, live it love it represent.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Instead of TV, I watch videos of other people playing video games and making jokes about them. This used to be the nerdiest thing I could imagine, but at this point it's practically mainstream.
