I usually have a current hobby to keep me busy which has gone the gamut including fire poi, skeet shooting, yo-yoing and juggling, billiards, random website designs, whatever the current sport is with the guys and more recently airsoft.
I'm always up for travel although the only place I've had time to get to outside the states in the last couple of years is the UK. My next trip will be Italy once I finally put together the details and take the time off. If you've been wandering the site for a while you'll notice that trip has been in the wings for quite a while; I'll get around to it soon enough.
A lot of my time goes into work, which can make it tough to get to know people outside of that social circle. I still prefer the idea of dating someone who is in the same boat. Goals and ambitions are sexy. By day I'm a programmer writing code for credit decisioning logic but I'll avoid going further into that to avoid any eyes glazing.
I am quiet, analytical, and faux-cynical.
When I'm not tearing through a novel or reading up on everything comp. sci. I spend time trying to get into more outdoor activities - mostly tennis or camping.
Dear OkC: I can't be the only one that hates this question, perhaps it's time to failboat it and add a different one?
Movies: Most of Kevin Smith's movies, Full Metal Jacket, Reign Over Me, and Office Space are the first that come to mind as favorites.
Music: Mike Doughty, 90's music, Pink Floyd, Common, Modest Mouse/Ugly Casanova, Sublime and Marley. These are some of the heavier hitters I'd identify as music that shaped a big part of my personal life soundtrack.
More recent music I <3 would be most of the stuff on your typical hipster spindle. I've been really loving pikachunes, AFP, The xx, The Lumineers, Avett Brothers, Mumford and Sons, Alabama Shakes, Blackberry Smoke, Animal Collective, Metric, Edward Sharpe, BoH, Grimes, etcetera the last few months, but this list is guaranteed to flux.
Foods: Sushi, Vietnamese Pho, Dim Sum, and Cuban are the best for going out but nothing beats a classic southern home-cooked meal.
Did the Law of Demeter start as a joke on personal relationships?
* I know the secret formula for coke.
* I own a both a mac and a single windows machine, but I try to usually only admit to owning a stack of linux boxes. I'm secretly afraid Stallman will find out and my linux zealot card will be taken away.
If the final private thought here makes sense then we're almost guaranteed to get along fine.
