My self-summary
I don't let anything get me down-- I say this because after being Type 1 diabetic for 27 years, and being on dialysis for 4 years, I received a second chance at life! In October 2009, I had a combination kidney-pancreas transplant. (I'm no longer diabetic, and I no longer have kidney failure!) I am obnoxiously perky (and silly)!!! (But a bit cynical, too...) I LOVE dogs. Currently, two senior-citizen Jack Russell Terriers and a three-legged Chocolate Lab pup own me. *grins* I am horribly allergic to cats. I LOVE almost any kind of music. I am a college graduate with a BS in Art. My favorite hobby is sleeping. I also love to read and write. I am very much a night-owl, so I am up very late on the computer most nights/wee hours. I do live with my Mother, due in part to my health problems. Pardon me, but I do tend to jump from subject-to-subject pretty randomly. Stream-of-consciousness thinking/writing, perhaps?

I am funny, optimistic, and eccentric
What I’m doing with my life
To be quite honest, I'm regrouping from an emotionally painful breakup-- my ex and I shared seven and a half years together. I'm also trying to get clutter out of my life, be it material, or mental; getting my health and fitness to where it needs to be, and spending more time with God.
I’m really good at
Uuuummmmm...being late to appointments/events??? Sleeping at odd hours??? Speaking LOLSpeak???

Well, I am good at listening to other people, being sympathetic/empathetic, and offering advice. I do artwork-- mostly graphite and pen-and-inks, but also some paintings. I write poetry and short stories, along with letters. I am a non-recovering grammar-and-spelling Nazi, and I LOVE making really bad puns/plays on words! I have achieved the Master Level at procrastination!!!
The first things people usually notice about me
Are my eyes and my smile...then when they talk to me, probably my warped sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) Books: I hesitate to single out one or two authors, so I'll just say science-fiction/fantasy thrillers, including werewolves, vampires, and supernatural beings/occurrences; true crimes/serial killers; historical novels-- not completely fiction, but not completely factual (especially the Civil War-era); sappy romances, suspense/mysteries, and medieval genre... (AND~ Ummm...are you familiar with A. N. Roquelaure?)

a2) Do magazines count? I like Guideposts, Reader's Digest, and Veranda...and the comics and Dear Abby in the newspaper. Speaking of newspapers, I cannot miss an issue of my hometown newspaper! It only comes out on Wednesdays and Saturdays!

B) Movies: Comedies! I REALLY LOVE cheesy 80's teen movies (pretty much anything with Molly Ringwald), like Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Club, and Pretty In Pink...I also like cartoons (such as Old-school Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies, Animaniacs, Ren and Stimpy, and Beavis and Butthead). Inspirational movies are great-- stuff with morals, values, or lessons learned; HAPPY love stories... I hate to watch movies that make me cry. This said, I am very sentimental, and a lot of Disney movies really touch my heart.

C) Music: I like most all kinds of music, but have a special place in my heart for 80's metal/glam rock/hair bands. I also like country. I selectively like rap. Classic Rock is great! I really listen to the lyrics of a song, and if they "speak" to me, the song will become a favorite. I get very emotionally attached to music and memories...

D) Foods: I love Italian and Mexican foods best. Japanese food is really good, too. Country cooking is always welcome...good ol' meat-and-veggies, with cornbread! I love salad and fruit. Milk chocolate is divine, and I LOVE cheesecake!

I guess I should include that I am allergic to beef and shellfish, as well as aspartame (the artificial sweetener Nutrasweet).
*since my transplants, I can NEVER have anything with grapefruit/grapefruit juice in it. BAD reaction with the anti-rejection meds.
Six things I could never do without
!. God
2. My Mom
3. My Dogs
4. Intimacy/Love
5. Music
6. Books, pencil/pen, & paper
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My life and what I would like to do if money was no object and I was completely healthy. (What can I do to make money???) I also think a lot about my friends and what they are doing these days. I think a lot about the past. I think about things I can do to help people, or just to make someone smile. I also think a lot about stories I should be writing, but haven't gotten around to yet... Did I mention I'm also great at procrastination???
On a typical Friday night I am
I'm not doing much anything right now. Occasionally, I do a Girls'-Night-Out thing with a few of my good friends, but not nearly often enough! I usually get on the computer 'til the wee hours. (Lots of times, I'm either on FaceBook, or sorting/organizing my pictures into file folders by subject matter/category.) Currently, I don't drive anywhere unfamiliar at night.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Uuummmm...that I still sleep with a stuffed animal??? Sometimes I like to shock people, so you never know what I might say or do... It's your job to decide if it's the truth or not! *giggles* (I do have a side that most people never see!)
You should message me if
You would like to chat online and become friends. Or, if you already know me!

* * By the way, I PREFER to communicate by Message on here, because the Instant Message feature does NOT always work correctly-- sometimes it it will cause my computer to freeze up, then I have to completely reboot. Leave me a message, and I will reply as soon as I get it! THANK YOU!!! * *

(Message me if you are familiar with NASSA/NAPEX- North AL, MAK in Marshall County, AL, TRC- Birmingham, AL, the former CAPE organization- Central AL, or The Mark- Nashville, TN.)
