My self-summary
I am easygoing, honest, well educated guy. I love to learn new things. I am always reading a book, either on history, science, politics, or sociology. Although, I often add in a good novel into the mix. Over the last ten years, I have been busy learning try things. I got a second masters degree public administration. My origin masters was in computer science, so I did something completely different for the second. I got scuba certified, bit first had to learn how to swim (this has become favorite exercise), started kayaking, began running, and got hooked on skiing. Recently, my endeavors have turn toward the artsy. I am learning drawing, photography, and trying to find time to write short stories.

I am looking to meet a woman to share life's adventures, ideally, a partnership in learning. I want someone that wants to learn new things. Someone that wants to teach me new activities. Someone that desires to try adventures new to both of us.
What I’m doing with my life
I am exploring what the world around me has to offer. I look around for new activities and ideas. If one catches my attention, I look into it. I want to have a better understanding of the world and people.
I’m really good at
Learning things: The most common comment on my high school report card was intrinsically motivated. I'm always looking for something new. Once something really interest me, I go all out. I only learn to swim to pass the scuba swim test. I wondered how management in a nonprofit differs from for profit company so I spent four years getting a MPA while working full-time.

Being honest: well, too honest.

Making butterscotch cookies: none of this butterscotch chips business, real butterscotch cookies.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite fiction writer is Emborto Eco. The imagery, historical details, and complex themes in his works are interwoven into amazing story lines. After him, I enjoy fiction authors with great imagery and good pacing such as JK Rowlings and Suzanne Collins. To limit either of these authors to young adult genre is an insult to their genius. Most fiction is pale when compared to them. For non-fiction, it is probably Karen Armstrong, She has a lot of good works on the history of religion. I also love the political analysis of John Dean and the humor of Al Franken.

For movies, I love grand stories without Hollywood endings such as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon or Citizen Cane. But if I had to pick just one favorite would be the Princess Bride or Big Trouble in Little China. Yes, I know that is two and they both have Hollywood endings.

My favorite TV show of all times is Babylon 5. I tend to stick to science fiction, fantasy, and documentary shows. But my sister did get me addicted to Gilmore Girls.

As for food, my tastes keep expanding. About nine years ago, a close friend decided to teach that "hating seafood" was just fundamentally stupid. He succeeded and sashimi is now one of my favorite foods. In the process, I learn that the chef is the biggest factor in how good the food is. A great chef can make food I generally hate into an amazing meal.
Six things I could never do without
The most important thing to me is access to information. Things such as news outlets (papers, TV, radio, websites), books, movies/videos, classes, museums, and historical sites.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Politics, history, science, art, religions, current events and interpersonal communication. I love it how learning about something in one of these seven topics improves my understanding of the other topics.
On a typical Friday night I am
Resting from the activities of my week. I prefer to be active Saturdays and Sundays.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm always scared to meet new people and try new things. But, I have found that if you're comfortable, you're not growing. Worse yet, life gets boring.
You should message me if
you want someone to share life experiences with. I would love to share my interests, experience your interests, and hear your impressions as we learn new things together.
