My self-summary
Hi there! I'm Alex.

I am looking for the Banjo to my Kazooie. No, you can't be Kazooie too. It's not-- It's not me, it's just the game. Like, there's only one? I don't make the rules here.

Some of my favorite things include: weird theater, movies, board games, exploring the city, singing in the shower, rainy days, owning far too much tea for any one person, camping, learning new things, and swearing.

To me, the biggest turn-ons are earnestness and confidence. You're probably pretty awesome. Own that shit. You don't have to try.

Some things that I look for in a dudefriend: flannel, owns a cat, wordplay, secret desire to be a pirate/spy/pokemon trainer, thinks he can beat me in board games (he is wrong), a love of good bad Chinese food, gets lost in used books stores and shows back up later with a stack of books, will make me treasure hunts, can talk to my parents about sports and also explain sports to me. Bonus points if you're kind of a goober.

Essentially my dream partner is Andy Dwyer.

Hit me up if you fill up all or some of these things. Or none. Throw me a curve ball.
What I’m doing with my life
I write for and perform in a weekly performance art show in the West Loop. I'm also a production manager for a theater company. And I'm also a playwright. I also run a podcast about the history of horror movies. (Saturday Night Spook-O-Rama. Check us out!) For a job, I work downtown for a tea company as a field trainer.

Overall, I'm trying to do things to make myself happy. For example: going on a date with you. (That's about the epitome of my smoothness. Sorry.)
I’m really good at
making silly faces and looking off in different directions in photos.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Where the Wild Things Are, Clue, Airplane!, Lilo and Stitch, Young Adult, Rebel Without a Cause, Mulholland Drive, Apocalypse Now. Pretty much all horror movies.

TV: Letterkenny, Please Like Me, American Horror Story, Drag Race, Community, Black Mirror, How to Get Away With Murder, Orange is the New Black, United States of Tara, and just about every competition reality show. NO SHAME.

Music: The Mountain Goats, The Front Bottoms, Modern Baseball, This Will Destroy You, The Weakerthans, The Magnetic Fields, Brand New, Tegan and Sara, Angel Haze, Zebra Katz

If you want more info on my music tastes, here's my profile:

Books: No One Belongs Here More Than You, I'll Give You The Sun, When Marina Abramovic Dies, The First Bad Man, The Rules of Attraction, Less than Zero, Abarat, The Picture of Dorian Grey

Also, if you wanna cuddle and listen to Welcome to Night Vale, that would rock.
Six things I could never do without
Friends; because I'm a huge extrovert. Theater; because art's pretty cool. Writing; because I have lots of feelings sometimes. Fuzzy things; because I love things that are warm and soft. My cat is included in this one. Tea; because tea is just so fucking pleasant. Feminism; which might sound kinda dorky, but fuck, feminism is awesome.

Also peanut butter.
On a typical Friday night I am
If I'm not working I'm probably hanging out with friends or seeing a play. I'm not really into huge parties or clubbing or anything. If I have to yell to be heard over the music, I probably just want to go to a coffee shop. Fuck, I pretty much just want to go to a coffee shop anyway.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Sometimes, when I'm alone with my cat, I'll sing songs to him, but replace random nouns with the word 'Kitty' or 'Cat'. I'm a real winner.

Also, my current text tone is Navi saying "Hey, listen!". So, like, that's a thing.
You should message me if
If you want to grab coffee or hang out or something. Or if you just want to chat. I'm nice, I can make conversation! Just say hi or ask me a question!

I'm also looking for for the other half of a power couple. Let's run this shit.
The two of us
