My self-summary
Look serious, but actually funny. Intellectual and arts oriented, looking for the same, although I don't expect you to be a scientist or librarian, as I have been.

I hike up hills, through snow even, can throw a ball, football or frisbee pretty well, but I'm not an all-around athlete. Formerly more of a radical, now eclectic and somewhat contrarian, but still very liberal. Enjoy local fauna watching, good music, strong coffee and friendly women.

Worked most recently as a scientist and cybrarian. Still keep my neurons active and happy in my current unemployed state, mostly!

As an individual, I do not believe in God, I'm smart, and was raised in a very different way that has caused me to question most everything. I do believe in morals, some people, and friendship. I've been a very good communicator with my partners and I'm very loyal to them, even my ex-partners. I'm still in touch with them as friends, in many cases. If you need a conventional man, please pass on by!

Living fully in the moment is a good goal, but hard to achieve. Cheers to all who have read this far! Thanks.
What I’m doing with my life
Still working, keeping the brain cells moving in a rapid fashion. Physical chemist by training, book lover with a library at home.
I’m really good at
Making connections, as in connecting the dots. Finding needed information in the digital and print realms.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm bright, but much funnier than I look.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
The Three Stigmata of Palmer Eldritch by Philip K. Dick, Wings of the Dove by Henry James, Nova Express by William S. Burroughs.

Movies by Fassbinder and Fellini. Noir. Silent films. Argo was very good. Like Person of Interest, Elementary tv shows. Started to watch Homeland recently--Carrie does need that clozapine!

Like James Ellroy, Michael Connelly, Christina Stead, Joan Aiken, and Faulkner, Billy.

My favorite non-operatic singers are Gram Parsons, Sandy Denny, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra.

Some favorite all-time modern fiction writers--Angela Carter, J.G. Ballard, Kathy Acker, William Burroughs, Philip K. Dick, Thomas Disch, Cormac McCarthy and many others. Like James Ellroy, Michael Connelly, Christina Stead, Joan Aiken, and Faulkner, Billy.
Recently reading Margaret Atwood, Flann O'Brien, Lawrence Block, Fredric Brown, and Jonathan Franzen. Jonathan Latimer, too!

Listen to KFJC a lot, now on the TuneIn app, since radio access is nil in Pacifica! I can listen to almost anything, except extremely loud music. My favorite non-operatic singers are Gram Parsons, Sandy Denny, Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra. I love most of Monk and Miles Davis, Eric Dolphy, Coltrane, and Charlie Parker--I have been listening to a lot of early Louis Armstrong lately and David Oistrakh, Russian violinist. Enjoy soundtracks (e.g., Morricone and Rota), ska, lots of other music, too. Watched Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and Man in the High Castle tv series recently and enjoyed them all. Yes, I was practically weaned on Marvel mayhem.
The six things I could never do without
Books
My daughter
Science, learning more and more
Poetry
Music
Freedom
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Many different things - from small RNAs to schizophrenia and other psychiatric diseases' genetic roots to the bizarre status of US politics and the all the madness, sadness and joy that humans and fellow creatures are tortured by and enjoy every day.

Also, how to find a girl friend and make time to exercise!
On a typical Friday night I am
Lately, out dining a date! Or going to music shows. Or as a bookworm, worming my way through a book!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have great views of the ocean where I live now.
You should message me if
