My self-summary
A retired atypical avionics engineer, snow skier and recreational pilot. Salt/pepper hair, hazel eyes, easy-going disposition with an inquiring mind. Also have experience as a sports photographer, audio technician, computer consultant, hay-swather operator, bale bucker, Principal Investigator, post-hole digger, barn-builder, project manager, logic design instructor, proof reader, snow ski instructor, waiter and US Army veteran (not in that order). :-)
What I’m doing with my life
I'm researching/writing a sci-fi screen-play which explores why we are in such dire straits (as a species) and what we should do about it ... Otherwise involved with a circle of friends who get together about once a month, just to socialize.
I’m really good at
Computer technology, communications, meeting people half-way, pulling my load, quality control, planning, assessment, project management, implementation details, financial investing, real estate, board games, music. And sharing, in Buber's "I-Thou" sense of the word.
The first things people usually notice about me
Dressed appropriately, polite, quiet, well mannered. Willing to have a conversation with anyone except a Tea Party zealot.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: anything by Joseph Campbell and/or anything that gives me a new insight. Movies: 'Sleepless in S', '2001 a S.O.'; Music: anything from Bach to the Beach Boys. Food: almost anything but the environment must be conducive to conversation; not noisy or distracting and waiters should understand the fundamentals.
Six things I could never do without
1. A quiet place and time to read and write.
2. A good dog or an exceptional woman. :-)
3. The opportunity to check the National Geographics Channel to see what nature program is on.
4. A fly rod and the occasion to get out in nature and use it.
5. Access to my aircraft and the opportunity to get up-and-away.
6. Friends with whom to share life's experiences.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why we spend so much time in school and learn so little. Why we strain at a gnat and swallow a camel. Why we don't spend more time grokking and less time grasping ...
On a typical Friday night I am
Reading or writing, until 'Blue Bloods' comes on at 9:00 pm. Saturday nights are date-nights ...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I occasionally sit too-far-back in the moguls and over-rotate in deep powder ...
You should message me if
You are an attractive, intelligent and weight/height-balanced female-type human, especially if you like to snow ski or trout fish or sit right seat in a single-engine aircraft. Or for reasons of your own! :-)
