My self-summary
* Mellowest guy you would ever meet... until I lived in Missoula, MT for three years; now I'm a bit twitchy. (Long story.)
* Being awake and coherent before noon is against my religion. When the sun goes down; my 'day' is just beginning. There is not much better than a warm summer night.
* I am tacky, ornery, and slap-happy.
* I do what I can to enjoy life and try to include my close friends whenever possible.
* Big fan of lists.

I've noticed that a lot of people around the Portland Metro have their 16personalities-whachyamacallit results. I don't agree with what I got. My personality can be very... environment based. However, a personality classification I agree with would be my D&D alignment: Neutral Good

What I’m doing with my life
Living one day at a time.

I finally managed to loosen the grip Spokompton had on me. I win! I'm now living in The Couv! Thus, I'm here on OKC to meet new people that will hopefully facilitate the exploration of this area, it's people, culture, et cetera. I do know a handful of people here, but they are typical 30-somethings in that they are usually focused on aspects of their life other than a social-life. That, and working from home isn't helping me meet anyone new either...
I’m really good at
The first things people usually notice about me
I am by no means shy, but I can be a bit quiet in some settings. (This confuses people.) I loathe small talk: I find it baffling and illogical. I may not be an open book, but nor am I a locked diary. I am a listener and observer above all else, which tends to make those who hide things uneasy. This amuses me. MWAHAHAHA!

However, I do recognize that the lack of small talk skills can be viewed as a personality defect. *shrugs* Either way, I'd rather do something than talk about it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS: Anything by: Douglas Adams, Michael Chrichton, Robert Kirkman, Stephen King, Chuck Palahniuk.

MOVIES: 40 Year-Old Virgin, Batman (Nolan-verse), Fight Club, Frailty, Grosse Pointe Blank, (anything by) Kevin Smith, Marvel Cinematic Universe, Matrix, Prometheus (really any Alien related movie except the fourth one), Shaun of the Dead, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Super Troopers, Terminator 1 & 2, Trapped, Waiting..., When Harry Met Sally, Whip It. (The list goes on nearly forever, but this is a good cross section.)

TV: A-Team, Americans, Archer, Community, Cops, Deadliest Catch, Dexter, Fargo, Fringe, House, LOST, MacGyver, Newsroom, Quantum Leap, Rescue Me, Silicon Valley, Sons of Anarchy, Stargate (any), ST: TNG & DS9, True Detective, Walking Dead, Wilfred, Weeds.

MUSIC: AC/DC... to ...ZZ Top. I try to see concerts/shows as often as possible. Also, a sizable fraction of the people I hang out with are karaoke addicts. Lucky for me they're pretty damn good at it. My musical abilities? Ha! I sing like an amputee: can't hold a note, can't carry a tune. Oh, and, I can shred on a (Guitar Hero / Rock Band) guitar (on medium difficulty).

FOODS: Mexican, bacon, Italian, bacon, American, oh and ummm... bacon smothered in cheddar.
The six things I could never do without
All I need is three...

~Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

I'm not joking: I keep a copy of H2G2 wrapped in a towel, stuffed in a satchel, stashed under the back seat of my truck.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
When I'm not arguing with the voices in my head? Friends, girls, traveling, Lego, Star Trek, bacon, the coming Zombie Apocalypse...
On a typical Friday night I am
Comfortably numb... or asleep. I work weekends, but start time is *just* late enough in the morning that I can go out on weekend nights if I plan ahead.

I suppose this section is OKC's clever way of asking 'what do you do for fun'? To answer that: bar trivia, billiards, board & card games, bowling, camping, comic books, concerts, go-karts, karaoke, Lego, long walks on the beach that segue in to burning poetry followed by an intense session of poking dead things with a stick, mini-golf, Munchkin, padiddle, road trips, rock climbing, roller coasters, rollin' d20s, skiing, sports fan (football, hockey [minor & pro], motor sports, roller derby), and video games (Nintendo & PC).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I read Star Trek books. (This does not include fan-fic!) I suppose most would put them on the level of trashy romance novels? They are by no means high literary art, but I find them entertaining. *shrugs*
You should message me if
...you desire a friend or are simply curious. I'm not here to find a date per se... Thus, I'm here to meet people and make friends. I tend to focus more on developing connections and escalate those connections if it is agreeable on both ends. Are we destined to live happily ever after? Are either of us gonna say "peace, I'm out" ten minutes after meeting each other? Will it end up somewhere in between? Let's find out. C'mon, I don't bite... ok, I do... but I rarely get complaints.
