My self-summary
Industrious, intelligent, humoristic and warm.
Passionate about politics and so to as a lover, attentive and adventurous. One part Ivy League, One part Street. Curious, enthusiastic, with a pronounced private side as well. Honest and sincere, no hidden agendas. Love music, the spoken word, wilderness and big cities, and for all the practical stuff in life do believe that the symbolic and unspoken has weight.
What I’m doing with my life
Parenting a teen, running a non-profit environmental and human rights film company and directing its productions, working on green rural development projects and enjoying outdoor adventures and city life with equal zeal.
I’m really good at
There are all kinds of esoteric questions I ask myself, as in, am I a good parent? I hope so. A good filmmaker? I trust that I am. But these are subjective. What I am sure of is that I can cook, dance, and make people laugh even under grim circumstances. I can see most any project through. My attempts at gardening, and lately growing orchids, are at least earnest i. Joking aside, I do believe that I am exceptionally good at being attentive to the needs of my partner.
The first things people usually notice about me
Outgoing, funny, caring, with a bit of a flip mouth. Nice looking enough. Smart, or if not, at least clever.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
For escapist fare, Luthar and Misfits, BBC-TV. Book wise,
War at the End of the Worlds by Llosha. Feminist biographies of Margaret Fuller. Anything well written on Climate Change. Raymond Chandler. Music, King Suny Ade, Movado, Opera, early Freddie Hubbard, doo wop and soul. Classical of course. Maria Bethania. Gregory Issacs. Sam and Dave. Soul. Paella. Steamed fish. Fresh greens. Leonard Cohen. The Young bloods. Chopin. Black Flag. Middle Eastern club dance music. Mercedes Sosa. Nueva Cancion. Hector Lavoe. Sade. Yellowman. Nigerian dance hall.
The six things I could never do without
romantic love, filial love, rhythm in music and poetry, once a week shave with a straight razor, fruit, and of course, coffee. Exercise for sure, fun, sex, and yep, the ocean. Travel and adventure a must.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What just happened, what is going to happen, and you.
On a typical Friday night I am
No such thing as typical, I could be dancing to a band from Sierra Leone at a downtown fundraiser, recovering from the week by watching re-runs of I-Spy, or folding socks. Soon it will be romancing you.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I enjoy ten terribly good cigars every year and ten glasses of good scotch.
You should message me if
you are interested in a loving man who is earnest and fun, has a bit of a wild streak, loyal, responsible and a die hard romantic....
