My self-summary
Infinitely fascinated by the world and it's people....I am a medical massage therapist and I teach massage, physiology and pathology in a small school of massage and yoga. I am an optimist and a basically happy person, a lover of music, the written word, good conversation. I love teaching and mentoring students. I love discovering new places, and sharing the moment.

I live in a charming older farmhouse on a small farm close outside of this delightful university town in the beautiful mountains of Southwest Va. I have travelled widely, enjoyed that very much, both in the US and abroad. I am known for my sense of humor, compassion and for being dependable and reliable.

. My husband of 30 years died in 2010, and I truly know that my self-identity and even more happiness are deeply involved in life partnership. this is something I deeply loved and am good at. I am looking for someone to travel with, to fix breakfast for, to share the days joys and woes, to delight in each other and support each other, to hold hands, and each other...To share life, with it's unexpected, quirky hilarious side and it's sweetness of spirituality , sensuality and awesomeness of mystery.

I grew up in Blacksburg, Va., and went to college here as well ( art major, it was the 70's ) Since then have lived in many other places, and travelled widely.( Ireland, Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, Italy, Germany, France , most of US) ..Still have a yen to see new places, whether a drive nearby or across the globe. I am delighted to be back in this area again the last ten years, it is the best place to come home to.

I have been a professional horse trainer, riding instructor and breeder, but at this phase of life other interests take up my time, I still love to be a spectator and photographer on occasion.

I love music of most varieties, especially live, ( classical, folk, jazz, blues, zydeco, old time, rock....not metal or rap) My siblings, nieces and nephews are performing musicians of various types. We all love to sing. Music is a delight to my soul. I love art , too, have not had much time to paint, draw or sculpt lately, but I will again, no doubt, and love to go to galleries, shows, festivals and studios. Photography is less time consuming, more spontaneous.I am a student of the Light, and love to share my vision of color, texture, light, landscape, people, the flavor of the event or occasion. I love to write also, have won awards for poetry and short story, have a few things in progress at any given time and enjoy poetry readings.
I love to read, really might be addicted. Cereal boxes, if that's all that is handy. I read a mix of fiction and non-fiction. Endless Curiosity, can't help it.

Politically and Socially, I am a Liberal. You do not have to believe everything that I do, but being complete opposites will not work. I am allergic to cigarette smoke, so that is a disqualifier. I am spiritual, but not into dogma or right/wrong ideology, I am broad minded and compassionate. I believe that people can be quite different and bring balance to the whole of the relationship. I have no desire to change you into me, rather I enjoy your complexity and distinctive qualities. Intelligence and a sense of humor are likely necessary, however.

I share my old house with a large dog and a cat. The farm has various wildlife and birds, a few horses yet. Sometimes a garden, time permitting.
I enjoy meditation, yoga, swimming, walking, travel, movies, concerts, live theater, volunteering. I used to cook, even in a restaurant once, I am told I have a talent for it, I enjoy other people's cooking as well. I would love to share life with a special partner again.....

In theory, meeting online has some intriguing possibilities. One could at least begin to get to know each other through this medium. I would love to know more about you, start a friendship, then meet in person, share some time together, let our friendship ripen and then see where it goes. Care to explore together?
What I’m doing with my life
Doing massage therapy and teaching massage and loving it. Co-ordinator of the massage school student clinic. Volunteering. Caring for my farm and horses. Taking the dog to the dog park. Lots of friends and family, I have no children. Currently a lot of contemplating and reassessing. Walking, reading. And my mother lives in town and is needing some assistance of late, we enjoy spending time together.
I’m really good at
Massage ! For medical therapy or stress relief and relaxation. Cranial/ sacral Therapy. And I love to teach and seem to be pretty good at it. I am good at being a partner, and miss it very much. Most of the things I mentioned above are things I love and work to be good at....artistic, creative, writing, photography and listening.
The first things people usually notice about me
My white hair and zany sense of humor. My brain finds a lot of amusement in the world.....never a dull moment, never bored.

Art or food, sometimes it is fun to challenge one's self with a limited palate; soup, stews, ragouts...good.coffee, tea , glass of wine, juice or spring water!
Six things I could never do without
I have found in my life that stating this sort of thing is an open invitation to the Universe to show us how we can, indeed, live without that. I have lived in great abundance and in great austerity, in varying times and maintain an even keel mostly .
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Nearly anything and everything. Curiosity again. (I go through a lot of cats....) the mundane and the big mysteries, the wonder of it all.
On a typical Friday night I am
Going to hear live music, perhaps a movie or play, sometimes a quiet night at home, or a short road trip to visit a friend or family. Teaching or attending a class, you just never can tell.....
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Would definitely not be posted here. Ask me in private...
You should message me if
Any of the above appeals, perhaps we have some common ground, go ahead, it's just a message. New friends are cool, the first step is communication :-)
