My self-summary
I'm a shallow cad seeking a mindless bimbo for a deep, meaningful relationship. Have a passion for humor, needless to say, authentic connections, learning, concern for the world around me (my politics are left of center), indy/art films, intense music (mostly classical, but like jazz, rock, etc), the outdoors, animals of all kinds, exercise. I don't have a passion for possessions, although I'm not adverse to them.
I want a lot out of life while making every attempt not to take myself too seriously. Also, while having my own seems increasingly remote,
I enjoy kids a lot and while it´s not a requirement, I would be very open to a mate with children. In addition, while I'm certainly interested in finding a long term partner, friendships are very important as well, even if things don't turn romantic. I have two good friends I met via OKCupid.
What I’m doing with my life
Former public-interest lawyer, current journalist, classical and improv cellist and teacher, real estate mogul (kinda). Also do local and overseas journalism/media trainings for nonprofits.
I’m really good at
Being irreverent, seeing the absurd and laughing.
Also good at listening, especially when I remember to do it, and procrastinating, even when I don't remember to do it.
The first things people usually notice about me
You'll have to ask them or decide for yourself.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

In short, foreign/indie. Recently getting into silent movies with live bands - have you heard of the Alloy Orchestra?
Music - World music of all kinds, Mahler, Bach, Beethoven, Bartok, Ravel, Stravinsky, Debussy, Tavener, Talking Heads, The Beatles, Motown, Mingus, Miles, Monk, Coltrane. Just heard/saw some amazing hip-hop, and Juju rocks.

Six things I could never do without
A significant other or the possibility of one
Opportunity to learn
Something good to read
Exercise - primarily biking, hiking, yoga, swimming, weights
OK, fine, so that's more than six. Whatever!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The choices one continually has, and how you can instantly flip a potentially negative reax into a positive one with compassion and humor. Then there's the whole idea of projection and how we create our world. And, while I'm not particularly drawn to meditation, I am interested in non-dualistic Eastern approaches. And finally, least we forget, all the injustice and suffering flying around this crazy planet.
On a typical Friday night I am
W/friends, either out and about or at home, watching a good movie. listening to or playing music, contemplating my navel. And I'm doing more dancing these days.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'll tell you when I know you better
You should message me if
Any of this makes any sense, and/or you want to laugh.
