My self-summary
My major hobby is writing, particularly science fiction and fantasy, although I very rarely have time for it. I write both original and fan fiction, although I gravitate towards fiction with mad scientists in it, and as such have been moving towards original fiction. (To be fair, none of it is particularly original original fiction. I like playing with tropes.) I also like the odder parts of history, and my favorite kind of speculative fiction is usually based to some extent in history, whether it's an alternate history with magic/advanced science, or a different world altogether that isn't straight up European and vaguely medieval. (Not that I don't like A Song of Ice and Fire, and I do enjoy studying the middle ages, but a lot of medieval fantasy tends to be pretty generic and leaves out some of the things I find most interesting about the middle ages.)

My sense of humor is heavily dependent upon sarcasm and absurdity. I enjoy verbal wit. I have a soft spot for puns, even though I know they are terrible.

I'm podgy. I don't mind being fat and don't intend to lose weight, although I love karate and am currently a red belt. (Oddly, karate does not make me any less podgy. It just makes me more kickass.) I'm not currently taking classes, but I'm looking to start again.

What I’m doing with my life
I was an Environmental Studies major in college. I started off bio, switched to chem, and then switched again to environmental studies. I have to admit, I don't know exactly what I'm doing with my life; for a while I considered law school, because of my writing skills, but I still miss science and I'd like to do something to help people. So right now I'm trying to get on my feet so I can look around and figure out what looks best. Currently I'm working as a paralegal for a divorce attorney. It's more fun than it sounds, and I do like being able to help people in what is usually a pretty unpleasant situation.
I’m really good at
...dissections, writing, and pointing out really insignificant oddities and errors in movies. (Batman Begins' slums have no graffiti whatsoever, because apparently the huge crime wave in Gotham City scares away even the graffiti artists. I think it would have been cool to bring Banksy in and do stencils of anarchist rats, you know? And I, Robot had a room with a close-to-square array of 1001 robots, but 1001 is the multiple of 7, 11, and 13, and therefore an array of 1001 robots could only have been 77x13, 91x11, or 143x7, neither of which are close to square.) I'm also pretty good at drawing, and I can make a mean origami crane out of practically anything foldable.
The first things people usually notice about me
I think this probably depends on the person doing the noticing. The first thing I notice about me when I look in the mirror is whether this is a good day or a bad day, but I already know what I look like. I'm really short (only five feet) and that's probably noticeable.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A. The Pushcart War, Around the World in Eighty Days, the Odyssey, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I tend to like travelly books or books with a very recognizable voice. I'm also a fan of Discworld and Good Omens, and I'm working my way through Neil Gaiman's ouvre.

B. I don't get to see movies much except by chance, but I like old movies (Arsenic and Old Lace) and I have a weakness for explody adventurey stuff like Indiana Jones. Right now, I'm working my way through all the classic eighties action movies I missed, and MAN, you know what's awesome? Terminator! And Die Hard was great too.
C. I love Doctor Who and have seen every extant episode, including the really old ones with terrible special effects from the sixties. (Patrick Troughton is my favorite Doctor. I will defend him to the death!) I was really excited to see Game of Thrones, because I love the books. Also, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Legend of Korra are AMAZING. And yes, I like ponies too.

D. They Might Be Giants and Steeleye Span are my favorite bands. The first specializes in incredibly weird songs, the second is a British folk rock band. I'm also kind of a soundtrack geek.

E. I love Indian food and Italian food, but I'll try anything once.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Well, I daydream a lot -- mostly I think about stories I'm considering writing and bizarre trivia I have just learned. I find bizarre trivia far too entertaining. For example, Karel Capek, the playwright who coined the word "robot," and Rabbi Loew, who is known for having created the Golem (a sort of mythical Jewish clay robot) are both buried in Prague.
On a typical Friday night I am
When they're nearby, I sometimes spend my Friday nights hanging out with friends, but often I prefer to relax with a book or a computer game. While partying with big groups of people I don't know well can be enjoyable, I'm pretty introverted, so it's nice to have a few people I know around. Friday nights tend to be for recharging; Saturdays or Sundays I usually go out and do stuff, whether it's parties or art classes or ADVENTURE.
