And I'm looking for a man who is kind of like me. But with the male pieces.
I am active physically and am competitive by nature. I’ve been jumping into fitness enthusiastically with a trainer these past several months. I run 5Ks now and again, and have done yoga for many years. Although I was once a cheerleader and played basketball in my youth, I have just about zero interest in going to sporting events. I do check the stats on the Red Sox in season, having spent my childhood in the Boston area.
I love learning. When I studied Sociology back in the 70s it was for the love of a discipline that promised to understand people in community from all aspects – had nothing to do with how I might make a living with that degree. Never did happen. I wandered from job to job for a while before finding a home at Arthur Andersen, where the partners believed in me, and threw me into one challenge after another, inspiring my love for complex financial puzzles and the joy of digging for answers. Post-Enron, I turned to entrepreneurial adventures, one of which brought me to Nepal, where I partnered with a Social Worker in a complex jewelry import business that supported the education of low caste girls in that country among other things. And a method of doll-making that led to years of work in the local children’s hospital helping to empower those kids with art. Post-divorce, I returned to financial analysis to pay the mortgage, but couldn’t help following a new passion by earning a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology while also training to become a Therapeutic Breathwork Practitioner. So I dabble with counseling and breath therapy on the side. And now I’ve decided to refresh my French language skills, having always wanted to travel to France.
Traveling? I’ve done so little over the years, and just here in 2016 I broke through some old idea that I needed a partner in order to enjoy a vacation. I enjoyed a marvelous solo vacation week in Cancun recently at a luxurious resort, and am formulating plans to go to France next year. I do think that trip would be enhanced with a (romantic) partner, but if it doesn’t happen, well okay, I’m going anyway.
That’s it. I’d like to be in love. I think I’d be good at it. But if it doesn’t happen this lifetime, I still appreciate my life HUGELY, and know how to have fun and feel good in my own skin! I do believe it would be transforming and fantastic to connect with a man on all levels, and believe in the possibilities. And miracles!
