My self-summary
People tell me that I'm not boring (that's not to say that they say
I'm interesting, but hey, it's a start). I'm also a huge geek
(almost to the point of pathetic-ness) but people say I hide it
well. I've also never really been one for self-promotion so this
feels a little awkward to me. I'm actually currently interested in
developing a more serious relationship and while I might be
bisexual I mostly see myself in more serious relationships with
women. So I guess you could say that I'm categorically bisexual but
functionally lesbian. I am interesting, intellectual, and pleasent
What I’m doing with my life
I was just recently accepted into a PhD program and will be heading halfway across the country to go there. I'll be in the Orlando area starting in mid-August '09 for at least 3 year (probably more like 4) to finish up my PhD program.
I’m really good at
I'm very good at talking about myself at length as well as
listening intently and honestly to others. While this may seem to
be a contradiction I am genuinely interested in others and what
they have to say. I'm good at learning and understanding, and I
honestly like to expand my knowledge in new directions. I'm good at
being open minded, even to those opinions that offend me.
The first things people usually notice about me
Now I could say something silly and sentimental like my eyes, but it usually takes a while before I'm willing to let people that close. I'd have to say the most noticeable thing about me is my size. I'm just under 6 foot and am built, well, somewhere along the lines of a linebacker. It's not something that I'm real happy with (people judge me, potential dates dismiss me) but when I think about all of my good attributes stacked up against my body type, I consider myself blessed.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A) I love books, more then just about anything. My current favorite
is The Brief and Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz and at
the moment I'm reading Fingersmith by Sarah Waters. I'm also very
big into comics and manga some of my current favorite titles
include Billy Bat by Urasawa Naoki and the Ultimates (but only the
Mark Millar run). B) I do like movies, but I don't always get to
see as many as I'd like. I'm not fond of things overly romantic,
but can be tricked into liking them if I let my guard down. I just
recently saw Moon with Sam Rockwell and thoroughly enjoyed it. C) I
like music very much, but I'm afraid I've never really been 'in to'
music. I know what I like when I hear it, but I don't generally pay
attention to things like artists or song titles. I'm particularly
fond of female singers and anything I can sing along to. D) Other
than meat (I only rarely eat fish and no red meat or poultry) I'm
not particular about what I eat. I like more exotic spices (though
not too hot, I'm a bit of a wimp) and love Indian and Thai food. I
like to cook, and I'm actually really good (if I do say so myself)
and love to cook for other people.
Six things I could never do without
Aside from the life essentials, the internet, friendship, learning, my laptop (just the cutest little MacBook), my cat, and anime/manga
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the Universe, and everything.

Honestly, it swings around a lot. I think about the functions of humanity within our developing mediated society then jump right to how to best make a vegeterian lasagna that doesn't miss on flavor. I'd have to say that an unhealthy amount of my brain space is taken up with thoughts of anime and the rest with mostly school work. (I'm such a happy camper when those two overlap, like for my senior capstone project.)
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging with my friends, playing fun board games or watching MST3K. ....I did warn you that I was quite the nerd, didn't I?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Like I'd ever tell you anything ;)
