I try to make the most of our Emerald City. Especially when it sparkles under the Sun. There's always a beer/chocolate/oyster/wine/food truck fest to go to, a ride to go on or a park/trail to enjoy

All of these, while good times, would most definitely be enhanced if I could share them with a lovely lady with an easy smile, quick wit, and a towel.

What I’m doing with my life
Wrote a list 11 years ago. Pretty straightforward: go to grad school, improve my Spanish, continue traveling. and work in policy, preferably for a city government. Hit all of them. Went to law school. Had internship in Bolivia. Been working policy for 7 years, labor and EJ at non-profits then labor and MJ at the state legislature. Landed at the city recently. Now, SPD is calling me the Pot Czar. Livin' the dream.
I’m really good at
bicycling! I'm from L.A. but didn't own a car until I was 32. It's possible. Ironically, it was my work on a clean air campaign at the Port of L.A. that finally forced me to buy a car.

Also, I've been practicing yoga for 14 years now. I prefer vinyasa/flow most times but an occasional kundalini to bliss out is always good. However, it wasn't until I started 90X a year or so ago that I started practicing on a fairly regular basis.
The first things people usually notice about me
my smile? I don't know. I've never really asked that of anyone.

My bicycle (especially now with my Hilltopper electric wheel. Let's me commute to work, suited up, no sweat)

My family

My stories - be it book, film, tv or comic. How plain my life would have been without the endless worlds and characters I've visited.

My friends

My bag. Custom designed by ReLoad. It was the most expensive accessory I ever bought but it's been my constant companion on multiple continents since 2004. Maybe you'll see it racing past you when I'm pedaling down 15th or down Pike.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
what to do this weekend. Also despairing over the dominance of money in our political system. That's why I try to focus on finding fun and cool things to do on the weekend. If it's all coming crashing down I might as well enjoy it before it does.
