My self-summary
I enjoy taking a birds'-eye view of the world, somehow able to jump out of my own body and try to see a situation from all sides in a neutral light. It doesn't always work, especially when I jump too high and get hit by low-flying aircraft. Pesky Wright Brothers.

I love three basic things:

Teaching: I feel that knowledge is the most important thing in any life, something that should be shared as much as possible for the benefit of everyone. To this end, I tell everyone as much as I can to try and help them out, though sometimes the information isn't welcome.

Organizing: One of my basic drives is order from chaos. To make something new is, to put it simply (and with lots of modesty), easy for me. I'd rather take something created by another, where I have to understand their thought process and mechanisms, and make it my own, improving and expanding it in the process.

Laughing: I believe life is one huge joke--the timing is just off. Laughter, and that which causes it, is too elusive in the world, so I try to bring it to others as much as I can (often at my own expense, but that's a small price to me if it means a smile on someone else).

I'm looking for someone who will be a fellow suburban adventurer as we go through life. Alone, I tend to stay in a tight shell, hissing at that which is social or new to me. With another, be it a friend or more, my shell crumbles and I seek new challenges in life, knowing I will always have someone there to take my hand and help me back up if I fall down. Think of all we could explore together: shops!; zoos!; abandoned buildings potentially filled with hobos!; Mars! (hey, who says we can't build a rocket together?)

(A cat is fine too.)

(Apologies about the photos, I'm afraid I'm not often in situations where a camera is present, and I absolutely hate professional photos. HATE.)
What I’m doing with my life
Once again a free man, I have returned to a financial employer I worked for previously; my self-given title is "Integration Specialist". The long and short of that is that I write programs to make other programs work nice together.

I spend a lot of my free time helping out at Almost Home Adoptions (www.almosthomeadoptions.com), a great place that cares for stray cats and kittens until they can find their forever home. I volunteer there primarily as a greeter--tell people the rules and make sure they don't get scratched--but I also help out with a lot of other things, especially any technical problems they have. Speaking of which, we just launched a 24/7 online stream so you can always check in and see what our kitties are up to: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/almost-home-adoptions-cat-cam :3

Other than that, I'm "in between" well... anything. I don't have any friends in the area and I'm not real social when I'm on my own. So I mostly sit around at home, playing video games or hitting up message board online. How exciting!
I’m really good at
Programming (mainly web stuff)
Organizing (I fucking love organizing, it's insane)
Dance Dance Revolution
Laughing at everything
Explaining technical things
The first things people usually notice about me
My speaking voice
My constant smile
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: I stick mostly to reading things on the internet, and so don't read as many books as I probably should. I love almost anything by Terry Brooks or Tom Clancy. I know they're old, and so am I, but Animorphs. Otherwise it's sci-fi, fantasy, or political/war history (a recent interest). I also have a small Manga collection. Recently I've gotten into history books, and am looking around for good biographies. Do comic books count? Because I've subscribed to Sonic the Hedgehog since I was 13 or so.

Movies: Frequency, Equilibrium, Cloverfield, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Truman Show, Ghost in the Shell, Transformers, The Number 23, A Beautiful Mind, Shawshank Redemption, Serenity, Ironman, The Dark Knight, The Terminal, Die Hard, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Minority Report, Rango, District 9, Source Code.

Television: Monk, Law & Order, EUReKA, Firefly, House, Psych, Lost, Venture Bros., Metalacolypse, Frisky Dingo, Shin-chan, Chuck, Arrested Development, White Collar, Royal Pains. I'm a kid at heart, too: Chowder, Misadventures of Flapjack, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, Samurai Jack, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Angry Beavers, Ed, Edd, and Eddy. I'm also a fan of anime: Full Metal Alchemist, Vision of Escaflowne, Big O, G Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, FLCL, Trigun, Deathnote, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, MushiShi, Outlaw Star, Blue Gender, Baccano!, Monster, Eureka 7.

Video Games: (Hey, it's not my fault they forgot categories.) Legend of Zelda, Tales of Symphonia, Portal, Half Life, Team Fortress 2, Sonic the Hedgehog (mainly older games), Super Mario World, Super Mario Galaxy, Resident Evil, Goldeneye 007, Jet Force Gemini, Skies of Arcadia, Phoenix Wright, Excite Truck, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, God of War, Kirby's Epic Yarn.

Six things I could never do without
Stuff can be boring, let's go existential:
-The kindness of others
-The belief that intelligence will prevail
-The thought that we are not alone in the universe
-A child's boundless wonder and inquisitiveness
-The ability of some not to accept "impossible" as a limitation
I spend a lot of time thinking about
everything. My mind tends to wander all over. Mostly I think about what could be, and reactions to potential events. It usually winds up using something you'd see on the Sci-Fi channel, like psychic powers or superheroes. Move cows with my mind, hot damn.
On a typical Friday night I am
usually at home, just chillin'.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I still get a small amount of giddiness from making people go "ewwwwwwww!"
You should message me if
you feel like it. I generally have a rigorous entrance exam just for speaking with me, including short essay on world geography and a fitness test, but just for you I'll make an exception. So long as you can use complete sentences and require oxygen, feel free to use any of the 13.8x103 ways OKCupid allows you to contact me. Or you can IM me over AIM at RyoShinX. (You may also choose to communicate with me via the internet, I hear that's popular these days.)
