My self-summary
I used to have a really long-winded rant here, but in keeping with my recent interest in minimalism, I've decided to make it short and sweet.

I'm something of an urban hippie, a player of bongos, a writer of songs and occasionally screenplays, and an eater of vegetables. I love art, but I hate commerce. Material shit does not impress me, but I do love technology - when used for good. I do not text and drive. I'd love to live on a farm or go off the grid, but not alone. And I'm long overdue for a road trip.

I'm a left-wing, liberal, progressive dude and don't want anything to do with conservatives, Republicans, or any other fascists. I smoke herb (CA's legalization of which is one of the few silver linings in this election) and will only consider dating women who do as well. I'm sure I won't get a lot of responses with this statement, but that's how you "weed" out the good ones, right?

Ask me anything. I'm an open book. Just don't judge me by my cover.
I’m really good at
Making you laugh.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - Right now I'm reading Stephen King's End of Watch (I forgot what a great writer he is!) and Testimony, Robbie Robertson's autobiography. Recently finished Bear, a biography of Augustus Owsley Stanley III (if you know who he is, we'll do just fine!) as well as Deal, Bill Kreutzmann's autobiography; Catch a Fire, the Bob Marley bio; Venus on the Half-Shell by Kilgore Trout (extra points if you get the reference), Masks of the Illuminati and the whole Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson - love that weirdness! Also love On the Road, Brave New World, The Doors of Perception, 1984, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Image of the Beast by Philip Jose Farmer, and Terry Southern's Blue Movie and The Magic Christian.

Movies - Altered States, Alien, The Big Lebowski, Blade Runner, Brazil, Bring Me The Head of Alfredo Garcia, Cisco Pike, Citizen Kane, A Clockwork Orange, Dawn of the Dead, The Devils, The Doors, Dr. Strangelove, Easy Rider, El Topo, Escape from NY, The Exorcist, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Festival Express, Greaser's Palace, The Great Dictator, The Harder They Come, The Holy Mountain, Idiocracy, The Last Movie, The Last Waltz, Let It Be, The Magic Christian, Network, Performance, Pootie Tang, Prince of Darkness, Putney Swope, The Shining, Sorcerer, They Live, The Trip, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Up in Smoke, Woodstock, Yellow Submarine, Zabriskie Point...

TV - The Simpsons! American Gods, Bob's Burgers, Archer, Broad City, House of Cards, American Horror Story, The IT Crowd, Snuff Box, The Mighty Boosh... I ditched cable a few years ago, so I only watch broadcast channels, Amazon Prime and Netflix these days.

Music - The Grateful Dead! (yes, I am an unrepentant Deadhead!), AC/DC, The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, The Beatles, The Black Crowes, Captain Beefheart, CCR, CSNY, Miles Davis, The Doors, Bob Dylan, Parliament/Funkadelic, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Little Feat, Bob Marley, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Leon Russell, Pharoah Sanders, Santana, Steely Dan, Peter Tosh, Traffic, The Who, Neil Young, Frank Zappa...

Food - Still trying to keep it vegan as much as possible, which is a lot easier nowadays than it was 20 years ago when I started.
Six things I could never do without
Rice & beans
A good laugh
My friends & family
Comfortable shoes
Cannabis (hey, you asked!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Minimalism, optimism, the economy, why the bees are all dying, global warming, my shitty commute, if things are gonna get way worse before they get any better... Whoa, I need to stop thinking so much!
You should message me if
You're laid-back, non-materialistic, and like to laugh.

You can appreciate the simple things in life (cuz let's be honest, who doesn't appreciate the "finer" things in life?)

You like the outdoors. You're into going to movies and concerts, but don't mind hanging in.
