My self-summary
Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, but now a DC resident.

I'm a whiskey/bourbon drinker and will always prefer a pickleback over a shot of tequila. In part because of the whiskey and in part because as I get older I welcome the electrolytes (shots are hard).

I love well-timed humor, and those moments when you just can't stop laughing (you know abs clenched, tears streaming)--sometimes triggered by a smart, subtle funny or maybe the occasional cat video session. I work exceptionally hard, and I love my job, but nothing beats joking with friends; watching the the Daily Show (Jon Stewart 4 life), HGtv, late night Chopped, Netflix, etc. with the flat-mates; playing a rousing game of cards against humanity over drinks; starting snowball fights at wee hours of the night; so on.

I don't think I'll ever outgrow my playful tendencies (Seriously, never met a puddle I wouldn't jump in or a swing worth passing by). I have a shortlist of timeless songs that I can't go without, but I listen to everything that catches my ear or worth dancing to (oh hello, new pop Taylor Swift). I'm not big on small talk and I thrive in awkward situations, usually by making them more awkward. It's fun. Try it.

I thought I was Jewish as a child (a menorah was bought, matzah was later consumed), but I was wrong.
What I’m doing with my life
Making up little jigs to celebrate the small things, like Saturdays, Thanksgiving turkey, getting news that my friend is planning to visit. Thinking about how to save the world like captain planet, but with development and gender equality (and yes, the cool ring that would come with the job).Throw in the regular hang out with friends and that's what I am doing with my life.
I’m really good at
Tripping down steps, falling into small ditches, getting bruises etc. I'm a very clumsy.

Getting lost. Not exaggerating; I will walk in the wrong direction coming out of the metro nearly everytime. I read maps incorrectly when traveling, without fail (not any better with my phone speaking the directions at me). But usually the best stories come from trying to find my way.
The first things people usually notice about me
I hope it's the smile, I wore braces long enough.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Right now my playlist includes: Gary Clark Jr., Neighbourhood, Otis Taylor, Bon Iver, Dr. Dog, Dead Weather, Eagles of Death Metal, The Head and the Heart, The Kills, Wax Tailor, Milky Chance, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Black Keys, Hanni el Khatib, The Heavy, The XX, Portugal the Man, The National (man that voice is to die for), Manu Chao, Jose Gonzalez, Soko. Some regulars: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Billy Joel, The Doors, Radiohead, Rolling Stones, Beck, Led Zeppelin.

favorites are hard, so I will go with stories I can't seem to forget: Invisible Man, Anna Karenina, Brave New World, The Portrait of a Lady, Half of a Yellow Son, The Fountainhead, um of course everything Harry Potter, Game of Thrones series (on book 5 but I put it down and haven't picked it up in a while).

La Haine, Algiers, Sunshine Cleaners, Reservoir Dogs, The Constant Gardener, Snatch, The Fight Club, The Life Aquatic (fan of Wes Anderson, in general), Vicky Christina Barcelona, Beast of the Southern Wild (five stars! plan to gift the DVD to everyone for Xmas).

Law&Order (OG and SVU), The Daily Show (john stewart, I will miss you) The Colbert Report, Mad Men, Eastbound & Down, Boardwalk Empire, Game of Thrones, VEEP, Homeland, anything HGTV.

um seriously, I try just about everything: Persian, Ethiopian, Thai, Pho, late night Chinese, falafel, Korean BBQ, Bon Chon, sushi, Chivito sandwiches from a gas station "restaurant" called Fancy Gourmet...the list goes on.
Six things I could never do without
1. good food and drink (of the alcohol variety)
2. the crazy people I call my friends and family
3. books (a little curious about kindle-nook-ipad version of book but still hooked on paperbacks and the mildew scented public library books)
4. classic films and well made movies (I love to talk about know...based on my professional and technical knowledge developed from ONE French cinema class I took in 2006)
5. the occasional days of sunshine..preferably with the ocean in walking distance and warm sand under a beach towel
6. mid-day coffee (otherwise you might find me sleeping under my desk)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
...what book I would like to read next if I had the time (and promptly purchase it an add it to the pile); how I need more music; how fantastic my friends are; what to cook for dinner; how to add more hours to the day.
On a typical Friday night I am
ending the work week with friends and an adult beverage (or three).
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Because I apparently forget how to say, "No" when people swing by the house to raise money for schools, self-employment, wolves, etc., I now have a subscription to "Parent & Child" magazine. No, I'm not a parent. No, having an inner child doesn't count here.
