My self-summary
To reduce myself to one idea, I'd basically say that having no choice in being born, I feel I might as well enjoy all that this world has to offer while I'm here. What this means for my life is that I always take the greatest pleasure in the small things in life. I'm not someone who always has to be entertained in order to be happy. This doesn't mean that I don't like to have fun--it only means that when nothing terribly exciting is going on, I still take great pleasure in whatever I'm doing, whether it's just reading a book or taking a walk.

I'm also a person who likes to maintain a balance in life between work and responsibility, having fun, and finding time for myself. I'm very mindful of my future, and am taking whatever steps I need to right now to ensure that I'll have a comfortable future. Still, I realize that you also have to enjoy the present, and I make sure that I don't stop living in the now. And after all that, I cherish my down time, just reading, listening to music, learning piano, watching a movie, or lying on a beach in the summer.

In essence, I'd say I'm a positive person and I like to keep negative things out of my life as much as possible: negative feelings, negative people. I always try to make the best of situations, and I don't let things that are beyond my control get me down. That being said, I'm still a fighter at heart, and if I feel I can change a bad situation, I don't stop trying until I have done as much as I can to improve it.

I am conversational, easy going, and good humoured
What I’m doing with my life
I've started working in healthcare after deciding to change career paths. It was a long journey but I'm back to working full-time and finally doing work I feel is rewarding.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
a) I love horror, fantasy, and sci-fi novels. My favorite author is Clive Barker. If you're too scared to drop acid like I am, his books are the next best thing! I read every Guy Gavriel Kay book over the past year, and he's one of the best authors I've read in a long time.
b)I love watching all kinds of movies, so I don't really want to mention any favorites since it will probably be a misrepresentation of my overall tastes. But basically, I have strong interest in film and film history, so I watch a lot of old movies and world cinema. Currently, I'm trying to work myself through The Criterion Collection, if that tells you anything about my tastes. I also indulge in cult and horror films and I have a nostalgic weakness for most 80s movies.
c) I love music and I'm constantly researching new bands to add to my iPod. Some of my favorite bands are The Smiths, Morrissey, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Billy Bragg, Gaslight Anthem, Tiger Army, The Editors, Anna Calvi, Glasvegas, The Raveonettes, Phil Ochs, Operation Ivy, Rancid, Bad Religion, Pennywise, The Psychedelic Furs, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Rush, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, Placebo, Bauhaus, The Church, Sisters of Mercy, Face to Face, Dropkick Murphys, The Organ, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Ramones, Echo and the Bunnymen, British Sea Power, Arcade Fire, Stellastar, Warren Zevon, Nirvana, The Stone Roses...tons of others.
On a typical Friday night I am
a) Out drinking with friends.
b) Checking out a concert.
c) At the TIFF Lightbox or checking out some other interesting screenings downtown.
e) Just chilling at home.
You should message me if
You like good conversation, want to talk to someone who is open and understanding and can provide new insight, you want to get a drink or catch a movie sometime, or if you just want to meet someone new--I'm pretty accepting of people, so don't be shy!
