Also, there is some Adult Language here - It is guaranteed that you will see the word "fuck" more than once, used as an explicative and/or as a pejorative and quite possibly other adult language usage as well!
I am a widower. I lost my wife of 10 years on Feb. 13th 2007. So please bare with me. I'm new to the dating scene - again. I never believed that I'd be starting over. And to be completely honest, I don't know what or who I'm looking for, I do know that being alone sucks, big time! So, I have no expectations - I just want to meet some women and make some friends and maybe, just maybe find someone special.
Yes I have long hair, which seems to be unpopular for a lot of women. The following list can be used to describe my hair. Long, brown, graying, curly, thinning and balding. At the moment I'm somewhere between Ben Franklin and Worf from Star Trek, without the skull ridges. But I'm afraid Mr. Clean is in my future.
I wear 2 ear rings in my left ear - a small gold hoop w/ruby and a diamond stud. Yes, I have all of my own teeth, though some are capped but none are store bought, yet. (BIG GRIN)
I've recently started working out and I'm hoping to continue to get back into shape. I'm heavier than I should be but not as bad as some guys I see. I'm 6'2" and wear 40" waist pants at the moment.
**UPDATE** I'm in a 38" waist pants now!
Here's hoping that will change soon, the waist not the height! I've got a bit of a gut so I guess I'm in the cuddly range. **UPDATE** The Gut is dropping pretty quickly!
I also have a tendency to avoid shaving until I have to - I kinda have that Don Johnson/Miami Vice look. Hey, razors are expensive and hurt too! But I'll do it if properly wheedled and coaxed.
I'm into my computers, yes I'm a multi-PC person, and I love playing online games and first person shooters. I'm not into TV or Sports. I will occasionally watch some sports stuff but I don't follow any of it and I don't go to live events. I could be talked into going to support friends/family/kids but not as an avocation like a lot of guys. I also don't watch TV, sitcoms and such. I had DirecTV for many years and only watched the movie channels, Sci-Fi, and the history/science stuff.
The live entertainment I would like to see is concerts and maybe some plays, but I hate doing stuff alone so I haven't done anything for a while.
About pets. I have pet allergies - short term exposure to dogs make me sniffle - cats give me bronchitis. I bought a $500 dollar cat one time that nearly killed me! He went back to the breeder and I didn't even ask for a refund.
That religion thing - I enjoy discussing comparative religion and am always interested in the viewpoint of others. What I don't believe in is forcing beliefs on others. I don't believe that any one faith has got everything exactly right and I know that all faiths have many things wrong - i.e. the Crusades and Jihad are just 2 examples.
I was raised Southern Baptist/Church of God... But I rarely go to church. I believe there is a "God" or "Higher Being" but I don't believe in the men representing him/it, most of them are in it for the money and power. I believe that the Bible was inspired by God but written by man - thus fallible.
I also don't understand why Christians, Jews, and Muslims can't get along - they all worship the same God and even agree about the basic features of their faiths. But I'll happily defend your right to believe in the Great Snookum even though I don't agree with it personally.
I'm a veteran - I spent 4 years in the US Army between 1982-1986 and got to go a few places and do some stuff before deciding that it wasn't a career for me.
Ethnically - I'm of mostly of Scotch/Irish decent with a little Cherokee thrown in for good measure. You can tell by the high cheek bones. I've got a Great Grandmother that was full blooded and cousins that look like they should move to the reservation. So that makes me a typical 9th generation mutt from the South East. It's just too bad I got more of the Scotch/Irish - one of my grandmothers had less gray hair at 68 than I did in my 30's.
So that's pretty much me. The person I'm looking for should be witty, rich, fun, rich, charming, rich, beautiful, rich, yada, rich, yada...
Naw, just somebody who is real, not fake or nutz!, can laugh at themselves and with others, has an open mind and who cares, about something, anything at all, and can care about others.
If I interest you then give me a shout. I'll try to keep this up to date and get some pictures. Hmmmm, I don't seem to have any that flatter me. I got a lot that don't flatter me though ;-)
I am rebuilding myself, better than I was, and stronger, faster
The Phrase: "Anybody can do it - it's not like it's rocket science" doesn't apply to me because what I do IS rocket science. At least the application of it any way. I make the scientists math work!
Right now I'm just working and trying to get into shape, physically and emotionally.
It seems that the gym will inflict 2 kinds of pain on you. The kind that's in your muscles and then the kind that bruises your ego. And the EGO PAIN is a lot worse. You look at something that used to be easy... It's not so easy any more. :(
The working out thing is going better. My stamina isn't up to where I want to be yet and I managed to nearly hyper-extend my knees by trying to run too fast, too soon on the treadmill. Since I hate the bikes at my gym that means I'm on the elliptical machines until my knees quit feeling like they are full of loose ball bearings. I'm benching over 270lbs for single rep maxes and doing sets up to 305lbs on the pec/dec machine. Curling around 190lbs in sets on the curl machine, haven't tried max on free weights yet but I know I can do 50lb dumb-bells. The only rub is I'm loosing inches but my weight hasn't dropped much yet. It will, I've just got to be patient. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was my weight gain!
Honestly, if you can't laugh at yourself then what's the point???
Movies - Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi, and the occasional chick flick. Yes, I've seen both of the Princess Diaries Movies and I enjoyed them.
FOOD!!! - lots of it. Wait, that's kinda what got me to the shape I'm in. Seriously, gotta love steak, Buffalo Steak, Elk Steak, Venison that's Deer Steak, wood stakes - for the Vampires you know. I think I've mentioned steak just a little too often. ;-)
I need to find some new favorite restaurants...
It seems one of my favs has filed bankruptcy :(
2. My Best Friend - We've been a big part of each other's lives for over 30 years. I call his parents mom and pop and he does the same. I've seen him through 2 marriages and 1 divorce and he's seen me through one marriage and partially carried me through the death of my wife. He really should be in the number 1 spot, but this way I get to mess with him without his even knowing it! :) He lives near Knoxville, TN and I try to visit when I can. So, if you are from that area then drop me a line!
3. My Computer(s) - That multiple PC person thing. What can I say, some people have cats, I have computers. Plus I'm not allergic to computers!
4. Internet Access - CAN NEVER BE FAST ENOUGH!!!!! 'Nuf Said!
5. Tender Juicy Medium-to-Medium-Rare Steak - but maybe you could tell that! :)
6. The Gym! I've finally gotten to the point in my workouts that I don't suffer from DOMS anymore! (does seated, dual index finger, happy dance) (DOMS=Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness - yes they have a technical term for it) I'm also starting to research and learn more about exercise and nutrition to help me do my imitation of Steve Austin. And if you know who he is then you get a smiley! :)
And the fact that I'm an Optimistic Pessimist. Which means that I am absolutely positive that something is going to Fuck Up in the worst possible way. Therefore, when it does, I can feel vindicated and happy that I prepared for the fuck up. If it doesn't, then I can be pleasantly and happily surprised.
Until I decide to go frag the hell outta some nubs on CoD4 :)
