Ok, self summary, what can I say about me?.....I guess the best description would be: I am riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma. I am shy to the point of appearing aloof but when I say that I'm an introvert, the people who know me, roll their eyes and scoff.
I don't notice things. You could cut your hair, wash my car (got in trouble for not noticing that one), write my name in the sky with one of those smoke-blowing-air planes, I promise you, I will not notice. I tend to wander through life wide eyed but unseeing.
I am kind of a bundle of contradictions and non sequiturs. I love the sun but hate the beach. I love to travel but I'm afraid of flying. I love to swim but dislike being wet. I wish I could spend more time spinning with my arms out and my eyes closed, a la Maria in The Sound of Music. There really aren't enough opportunities in life to do that.
I think cupcakes should be their own food group.
Lately I have been spending a lot if time working on the Meetup I "inherited". It's a great place for ethically non-monogamous people to meet, network, seek and find information and support and be a part of a larger community of like minded folks. If any of that appeals to you feel free to check it out:
NSPP as well.
I'm also good at identifying songs from movies or movie scores.
Wondering through the grocery store I will hear three notes to the muzak version of some obscure song and be able to tell you what movie and what scene it was in. It's an annoying little talent, really.
Books: Gone Girl, The Great Gatsby or anything by Fitzgerald, The World According to Garp, Mists of Avalon, Gone with the Wind, Where the Wild Things Are, Pride and Prejudice, Lonesome Dove, Geek Love, The Little Prince.
Movies: Empire of the Sun, Lawrence of Arabia, Dog Fight, True Romance, Muriel's Wedding, Pulp Fiction, Defending Your Life, The Point, High Art, Japanese Story, Dangerous Liaisons, House of Yes, Gone with the Wind, Last Days of Disco, Almost Famous and Memento. Joe vs the Volcano is campy-spectacular and one of my all time favorites. I thought the most recent incarnation of Pride and Prejudice was simply wonderful. I love anything Wes Anderson.
Shows: Downton Abby, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, I'm easily sucked in to Antiques Roadshow...ever see the one where the guy brought in Lawrence of Arabia's watch and didn't even know that was what he had? It gave me chills! I also have a weakness for reality TV but there has never been a reality show as wonderfully fucked up as Temptation Island. Loved it!!
Music: Tom Waits, The Beatles, Billy Joel, Simon and Garfunkel, Chick Korea, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Joni Mitchell, U2. I seem to love any song in 3/4 time. I will hear a song and love it and after the hundredth or so hearing I will realize.....of course I love this song...it's in 3/4 time. I guess I'm just an old-fashioned waltzy kind of girl.
Food: this used to be Sushi but now I'm finding I enjoy Thai more. I also like dim sum and other Chinese, Mexican, Italian and Indian. I like spicy food. Really, I will eat almost anything, except mammals.
A mental escape
Something to look forward to
Dreams to chase
When you lose weight, where does it go?
Why is it so hard for some people to be agreeable and accommodating when it comes to little things that don't matter much anyway?
What would society be like if we all took care of each other rather than always looking out for our own best interests?
It's too bad it's not possible to bottle happiness and optimism. I see so many sad, defeated people out there and I'd be willing to share.
Ethical non-monogamy: it's such a simple concept and yet there is so much nuance to how it's wielded.
Is it possible to want what you have or are "wanting" and "having" two mutually exclusive states?
Usually my significant others, find ways to keep me entertained.
Also, I'm a naked mole rat. No really, I have had laser hair removal on all parts of my body below the neck. So, if you're opposed to "hardwoods" you should probably move along.
Beyond that, you should have fun ideas, be spontaneous and be looking for someone to share with. Or maybe you have no ideas but are willing to be spontaneous and just need an adventure muse to conjure ideas or fill in the details.
My life is pretty busy but I wouldn't say there is no chance for you, you just need to convince me that you have something I'm missing. I could probably find time somewhere if we truly hit it off.
