My self-summary
I'm an experimental filmmaker, recently relocated to Durham/Hillsborough.

I'm making a film and I am looking for subjects. I don't want to say "actors" because it's not exactly that. I don't want to say "documentary subjects" because I'm not really a documentarist. I'm a cinema artist making experimental films in a way that involves collaborating with real people who have real passions, real traumas, real lives.

I would love to take you, male or female on a coffee date with my camera and audio recorder. I'm basically married, so there's no chance of that kind of thing. However, if you're interested in collaborating with me as an artist who requires colorful human individuals as her palette, please message me. I would love to buy you a coffee for an hour or so of your time.
What I’m doing with my life
After obtaining an MA in Art/Video from the University of Louisville, in my homeland of Kentucky, I moved to Lincoln, NE for a job as Digital Instructional Specialist in the Art Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I also taught introductory digital media courses. I met my fiánce there and love him now as much as the first day! After 4 years was accepted to the MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts program at Duke University. Now he and I are here in Durham, NC trying to work and succeed as artists. I came from a lower-middle class family in KY and my parents split up when I was 18. During the last year my mother moved in with me and my fiánce for a year, which was very hard. I am best friends with my siblings, of which I am the oldest. I try to maintain a balance in all things. That's really hard to do in academia, but probably just as hard anywhere else.
I’m really good at
I'm good at doing what I have to, when I have to. Historically I've always been good at relating to people, and now that I am a graduate student I fear that I do not have enough time for people and relationships as I used to. This scares me because my identity is so formed around taking a deep interest in other people. But because I've been historically good at relating to people, I'm good at relating disparate things. I'm very trans-disciplinary in my approach to everything. I take a long time to make decisions and miss opportunities sometimes, but I never have regrets. I have to percolate.
The first things people usually notice about me
It depends what crowd I'm in. In some groups I'm very quiet, and in other groups I am very vocal. But everyone seems to notice that I don't eat meat, that I love Tarkovsky and that I smile a lot. And also that I'm rather silly most of the time.
The six things I could never do without
1. Total Fidelity
2. Mutual Creative Encouragement and Projects
3. Mutual Work and Energy
4. Intellectual Discourse
5. Total Honesty
6. Physical Affection
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Personality, Neuroanatomy (I used to have epilepsy), Philosophy, Art, Music, Why people do things. Why anything, really. That is a philosopher's question.

I have been tested by complex algorithms and magic to reveal the following scientific reports!

I am categorized by the following personality types:
-INFJ, according to the MBTI. This personality type is called by the archetype, "The Protector," or "The Empath."

-4w5 as indicated by Enneagram testing. Type 4 is "The Individualist" often called The Artist and a 4w5 is a analytical researcher version of type 4.

-I'm decisively Scorpio as indicated by the gods of astrology. And even if it's illogical, it's a good description in this case.

I prefer to ask why than how. I prefer people to ask the same questions. It's not so important that they have the answers, in fact, I'm happier with people who don't have the answers no matter if they ask why or how. I prefer people who love learning not for what it will get them, but for the joy of exploring our vast world and all it's mysteries.
On a typical Friday night I am
Watching Criterion Collection! I like good restaurants. Let me know if there are any in Lincoln, because I'm from Louisville, KY, the foodie/craft beer mecca of the near south.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I will admit it all, sometimes without provocation!

But for something that will amuse the reader:

I was given a deck of Tarot cards for Christmas by my brother's girlfriend. She's a designer, so of course, these things are cool to look at. They have a more interesting style of imagery than your usual fruity-lookin' Tarot deck. But I also learned that you are not supposed to read Tarot unless someone else gives you a deck. So now that I'm a chosen one, I am learning how to read Tarot. It's quite fun. Ask me, and I'll read your Tarot sometime!
You should message me if
1. You are a composer.
2. You've read some of Nietzsche's catalog.
3. You've read some Carl Jung.
4. You are interested in the relationship between Werner Herzog and the late Klaus Kinski.
5. You share my aesthetic sensibility.
6. You know guitar players are a dime a dozen (even if you are one, but if you are, you can play Rautavaara and roll your eyes when someone plays Stairway to Heaven and feels impressive)
7. You don't think playing Stairway to Heaven on guitar is the least bit interesting on any level.
8. You have a "concept" when you create art, not just a mental picture or a "vision." I.e. equal parts philosophy and craftsmanship.
9. You don't think vegetarians are weird, creepy or wrong.
10. You have made honest self-reflection and critical questioning the biggest part of your life.
