My self-summary
The symbol for Libra is the scales, and while I don’t think that you can tell everything – or even all that much in some cases --- about a person from their zodiac sign, here are the traits typically associated with Libras that apply to me, in my opinion. It is popularly believed that Libras are diplomatic, caring, loving, are able to see both sides of a situation, and seek out balance in their lives. They can’t stand hypocrisy and like harmony.

Though some of you might wonder, I am very comfortably black and proud of it. I am not from an island, no one in my immediate or not so immediate family is from another country and I am not the product of an interracial union. I am African- American, born in the Midwest – just an example of the diversity of the black experience here in the US. So, what does this mean? I am multi-faceted. What I am not, however, is like any of the black women that folks who watch TV these days are quick to grab onto as representative of the black female experience. I will never be a Real Housewife, Basketball Wife or on Love & Hip Hop, nor do I want to be. Whatever assumptions you make about me based on how I look, probably only get you to, at most, half of the story.

For me, it is all about the yin and the yang. I am a renaissance woman who also is fascinated by the latest technology. A tomboy who also likes to have to door held open for her. I am empathetic but not enabling. I like romantic comedies and suspense, action and sci-fi. I feel just as comfortable with a needle and thread or a paintbrush as with power tools or a tablet computer. I can be hard and tough or soft and mushy. I can take care of myself but that doesn’t mean I want to have to all the time. I have a professional career but I love to cook. It is one of my creative outlets and I think I am pretty good at it. I love coming up with my own original recipes, borrowing from recipes I find to make something even better! I love to travel, both domestically and internationally, although I don’t get to do it quite as much as I would like. But when I do travel, I like to really get to know the place I am going so I am not all that big on cruises or all-inclusive resorts. There is a time and place for those things but that time is when I care more about spending time with the person I am with than where I am going. And while there is such a thing as black and white, I understand that most of life exists in the grays – all the varying shades. But I am still very clear about what will and will not work for me.

I am looking for someone to share experiences and have adventures with. Someone who is intellectually curious and open-minded and likes to learn and try new things. Someone who has some hustle, who is not interested in staying still, but moving with purpose and determination toward their goals. Someone who is open-minded and adventurous. Someone who enjoys life and likes to laugh, and is not afraid to laugh at themselves. Someone who is not content just sitting on the couch all the time but wants to get out and see the world and get things done. Someone who thinks their health is important and has some dedication to their own physical fitness. Someone who is not scared to eat something raw, or taste something they have never tried before. Someone who is secure enough and articulate enough to express their feelings. Someone with a passport, who has used it to or has a strong interest in using it to travel to someplace other than Canada and Mexico and who can travel legally to those places with no issue. (Those on the “No Fly” list, should not apply! :-)

Oh, and I am 5'9" and I wear heels often. I prefer not to tower over someone I am dating but the most important thing is that he not have a problem with it.

Food: Oh well...... I am a food enthusiast! I like to try new things, I like to cook new things and I also like some old standbys, as long as they are good! I love sushi but can likely find something I like in any kind of cuisine. I do love all things dairy -- ice cream, cheese, milk, cheesecake, etc --- and love grilling, smoking and BBQ (real BBQ, not hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill!)
Six things I could never do without
My cellphone (s)
Ice cream & chocolate
My friends
My family
My self esteem

(not in that order, at least not most of the time!)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
My career, my vacation, things I enjoy, people I care about, making the most of life!
On a typical Friday night I am
It varies.... After all, variety is the spice of life! I could be chillin' at home after a long week, totally vegging in front of the TV or maybe making a nice dinner. I could be grabbing dinner with friends (or a date ;-) at a nice restaurant. I could be out at a happy hour or a movie. I could be getting ready to go out to a club and have a few drinks and dance my a$$ off. I could be arriving at some yet to be determined destination for a weekend away. It just depends..... :-)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cry at movies and TV shows, mostly at happy endings.

I have been known to dance around my bedroom/house.
You should message me if
you were intrigued by what you read and have something to say more than just "Hello, how are you." Tell me something interesting, talk about something we have in common, what is the favorite or furthest place you have visited was, etc......
